I owned mine for over 30 years. Only problems were a tendency to overheat on long summer road trips which was fixed with an oversize radiator upgrade and the automatic transmission leaked from the solenoids almost from the day it left the showroom floor. May 20, 2020

Mustang LX convertible 4 cyl mustang is good cruising car with the top down or daily driver, its a show car not a race car. this car runs smooth handles really well , breaks great , low wind noise even at higher speeds . I always wanted this car and was happy i was able to finally have it . I really enjoyed the car in the summer and spring.Nov 14, 2014

One of the most reliable vehicles I have had the pleasure of owning...and always loads of fun with the top back and wind in the hair! Battery terminal corrosion and rebuilding the transmission only recurring problems...tip for terminal corrosion, get the little pack of petroleum jelly stuff from Advance and put on new terminals. After a friend and I did that, issue was never again a problem.
Truly a classic, the Fox bodystyle! Loved this little bundle of mechanical joy! Drove it 10 years ago when expecting my son and drove it 10 years later, when my son turned 9...wanted to totally restore it and give it as his first car, but a careless driver took that option off the table. Can say, though, that this little car was sturdy steel, as I was t-boned in the driver's side door at about 60mph....she took it like a champ!
I think the Ford Mustang is one of the finest pieces of American muscle ever produced, regardless of generation or engine size...driving home yesterday in my new Mustang convertible, I decided that the only thing I ever want to drive is a Mustang! And Ford just keeps getting better and better on Mustang style, drive, ride, and luxury! You can have a luxurious American sports car!!! Yay!!! The 2006 I just got rides more like a luxury vehicle than a sport vehicle, but with that tight, responsive r&p steering, the thrill of hanging a curve is still a THRILL!Jun 20, 2013

I just love the speed and handling she has. I love the fact that it is very easy to work on when the time comes. My last one I had 165K miles on it when I sold it. The day I sold it she still ran awesome! Also had the original clutch believe it or not. I think the only thing in the engine bay I had to replace was the radiator and water pump. Good motor!May 13, 2013

I always admired the Mustang LX as it is quicker, leaner and more agile over the Mustang GT model which has some extra weight and has a heavier look to it. The 5 speed manual mated with the 5.0 High Output V8 engine makes for an exciting driving experience.Mar 03, 2013

Best car I ever owned. I wish I could find another Mustang with the same qualities. The car was so easy to maintain. Oil changes could be done in 10 minutes or less. Brakes were simple. The mustang was also fantastic on MPG.Nov 02, 2012

Performance: Acceleration and handling were great. Brakes could be better.
Build Quality: Owned the car for 45,000 miles, no major repairs.
Appearance: I really loved it.
Cost of Ownership: Tires were not cheap, but that was mostly my fault, not the cars..lol Gas mileage was very good for that type of car.
Fun Factor: Very fun. Great acceleration, awesome V8 sound.Apr 24, 2012

This car was bought new by my wife's brother. He gave it to our daughter in 2003. She used it until 2009 when she gave it to her younger brother who is now the primary driver. I don't drive it or ride in it too often, it is hard on my old body. It has had one repaint in the original color, one new top, & the cloth interior has been redone in black leather. The drivetrain has only had routine maintanence. It currently has 130000 miles. The steering rack is starting to get some play in it & the valve cover gaskets are leaking. Overall has been a very good car.

in 1983 ford released the 5.0 for the first time since the mid 70s they came stock in the mustang gt. at 180 horse it could have had more to offer but to the weight ratio of the car its a good balance, and let me tell you with the 5 speed standard its a quick car. handling is good but not outstanding tires and underbody sway bars and other customs have been added to make high speed handling much better. other than that it is completely stock, down to the original paint job and radio.it is a strong solid car that has needed very few repairs that were pretty easy to fix.beautiful inside and out .a true blast to drive Jul 13, 2011

You cannot beat a foxbody mustang. They are inexpensive, reliable, have excellent performance and a great look. Even fuel economy is exceptional. Cornering and handling are tremendous. This car is a blast to drive. Lots of power and torque. 25-27mpg on the highway with an automatic!!! Never left me stranded anywhere. Great sound and power and an excellent street presence. Cops respect you too. Oct 25, 2010

Love this car, long live the five oh! Great styling inside and out. Solid performance, very enjoyable to drive. While the car is getting dated in performance it's very upgradeable with strong aftermarket support and it's easy to work on. These cars are getting rare where I live so it's nice to have a Mustang everyone else doesn't have. I will never get rid of this car.Mar 17, 2010

As polished as this 100% stock 5.0L Mustang GT
was, I was a little disappointed with it's
performance. This particular car was built from
factory to be a cruiser with highway gears and not
the typical pep that 5.0L Mustangs are known for.
It was quicker than your average car, but had
trouble even spinning the tires. For a 5.0L
Mustang, it was all show and no go. Braking and
handling was typical of what you'd expect from a
domestic car...not exceptionally great, not terribly
bad.
The build quality of the car was decent with the
exception of some of the interior panels which
didn't fit and line up like they were supposed to.
This particular Mustang was very well looked after
before I owned it and I continued to baby it, as
does its current owner so everything on it was like
new. The only on going issue I had with it was the
idle kept searching despite replacing numerous
sensors and checking for vacuum leaks. Nothing I
did could pin point the problem and as far as I
know the current owner still hasn't been able to fix
it either.
Appearance-wise, this car was damn sexy! I loved
seeing people turn their heads as they saw this car
go down the road...even if it was just because it
was so shiny and bright! I kept it looking like a
million bucks and even added a few tasteful details
to the exterior to enhance its appearance. Inside
the car was super clean and still even smelled like a
new car. It had a light grey cloth interior that was
easy on the eyes.
Fuel economy was surprisingly good for a V8, but
that's because the rear end was geared for
highway. Didn't really have too many maintenance
issues with it other than replacing the water pump
and of course the surging idle problem. I took it
upon myself to upgrade the exhaust system to a
Dynamax Ultra Flow setup with an X pipe effectively
removing two of the four catalytic converters. I had
the new 2 and a half inch exhaust pipes ceramic
coated to a polished chrome-like finish. Still, the
car didn't have the sound I was looking for despite
the nearly straight through mufflers.
This was the second car I ever owned. However, it
was the first really nice car I owned. I had my share
of fun in it for the five years I owned it, but I have
to admit that I rarely drove it because it was so
mint I feared it would get scratched up. I ended up
selling to buy my '58 Plymouth Belvedere. It was a
difficult decision, but a necessary one so that I
could move on to my next dream car.Mar 14, 2010

Stock? Not at all! I polished a turd really well. MY version of
the Fox platform is sitting on all new suspension with extra
chassis stiffening. The engine is not stock, but is probably
around the stock power level of the 5.0L. All out of a 2.3L 4
banger.
This car handles like it is on rails, and it's my favorite all around
car to drive.Feb 19, 2010

Awesome car, great ride and feel, excellent preformance. Lots of aftermarket goodies to enhance preformance. In Stick form you can get better gas milage, can build the basic engine to over 300 horse power and over a decade of ass kickin fun!Dec 21, 2009

Performance is good probably between 280-300 horsepower right now, that number will continue to increase. Exterior appearance is amazing I have a custom paint job, the color is mystic teal it changes from green to blue depending on how you look at it. I also have weld racing rims with drag radial tires, skinnier in the front wider in the back. Gas mileage is killer but thats to be expected in a car like this. Definitely a fun car to drive.Oct 22, 2009

It was my Uncle's toy that he drove on nice Sundays. Except for a set of Cobra 5 star rims it is bone stock and has under 20,000 miles. Black with a red interior 5spd. It is a fun car to drive.Oct 14, 2009

One of my favorite cars I have ever owned. Lots of fun to modify. 200,000 + miles. Bolt on heaven the car was lost to a house fire with my 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback 289 Hi-po 4 spd. Replaced it with a 91 hatchback that was once a 4 cylinder but converted to a 331 stroker, 5 spd TKO, 8.8, and Aerospace Engineering 4 wheel disc brakes. Griggs 4 link and Coil over + tubular a-arms. With Sparco blue/black bucket seats. It is a work in progress and will post picturesMar 19, 2009

I love driving this car in the summer. It handles great, has good acceleration because it is a five speed, and looks good with the top down. It is also surprisingly good on gas. All in all I love this car.Feb 24, 2009

I loved this car! It was extremely solid, well-built, dependable, reliable, and fast as well as fun! I owned this car for about 6-7 years before I ended up selling it (new baby...bad in winter). It rarely needed any repairs, the body was very sturdy, and gas really wasn't that bad on it. I had a lot of fun with this car, and I still miss it. Dec 03, 2008

Bought my GT on Ebay from a guy in Pennsylvania that needed to sell it to pay for school. His loss became my gain.
The car puts a smile on my face everytime I hear the V-8 come to life. I love the attention it attracts from people who drove them or liked them in the early 90's.
The car is in excellent condition inside and out and I've lost track of the number of guys that have offered to buy it from me.
Cost of ownership is extremely low and I've only had to make minor repairs to the things that you would expect to wear out on a 15 year old car. However, I've probably spent more on modifications than repairs (headers, underdrve pulleys, cold air intake, off road exhaust, 3.73 gears etc.)
The car is a joy to drive even though I only drive it about once a week. I'd recommend a clean Fox body Mustang GT to anyone that loves the rumble of a V-8 and the styling of late 80's and early 90's American muscle cars.Nov 16, 2008

My car is meant to go in a staight line, VERY quickly. 0-60 and 1/4 mile numbers comparible to most supercars....The comparison ends there!!!! Try to take this thing on a road course and you will end up on your lid!!!
The car is in excellent shape and very reliable other than typical drag car issues..blown gaskets, worn tires, etc.
Gas mileage is absolute crap..but hey, I smoke vette's with the thing so who cares??? If I wanted gas mileage, my fun car would be a Honda. I'd rather eat glass.
The car is an absolute blast to drive...If you like speed, loud over- cammed American V-8's. I highly recommend one.Oct 06, 2008

There is nothing bad to say about this car. Talk about a dream come true! It still looks beautiful and can turn heads when driving it, even 16 years after the day we brought it home. Handling, acceleration, looks; its got it all. Still the best car I've ever owned.Sep 24, 2008

I love these cars, they are cheap, easy to find, and you can fit a big block 460 in it.
Mine has a 466 Super CobraJet with 12:1 compression, too much to list, C-6 trans with 3000 stall hughs converter and Fairbanks kit. 8.8 rearend 31 spline axles and posi. 8 point roll bar through the floor subframe kit from Autoweld. Like I said, too much to list.
Great car, when talking performance, who cares about gas mileage, its purpose built right??Apr 10, 2008

This Mustang has a full custom leather interior. With a custom MB Quart sound system with two 10" Subwoofers. Has a Hurst short throw 5 speed manual transmission. GTO black head light covers, 18" cobra R rims, and T-tops. The car has over $20,000 in the engine and drivetrain. The car puts around 400 Horsepower to the rear wheels. The car is just absolutly gorgeous.Feb 29, 2008

It's an LX 5.0 package, came with the automatic, cruise, Tilt, A/C, and the premeium AM/FM 8-track with built in Amplifier. At 145hp it wasn't going to win any races but it has a solid nible feel to it. It's no longer stock, It cranks out approx 300-330hp now, and it will surprise the younger kids in thier newer 'stangs. I'm looking to install Cobra 4 wheel disc brakes under it sometime down the road. This is my life-time soulmate.Jun 27, 2007
