What can I say I use it to get to work and back. It's nothing special but it's in very exceptional shape. Had to replace the maf sensor with an oem part because aftermarket maf sensors are too inferior. The one from autozone made the car run worse than it did with a faulty sensor.Feb 28, 2013

My '91 Maxima has 305,000 miles and still runs great. I've never had any major problems until the AC compressor went out recently. Of the five cars we've owned, this has been the best by far. I get 27-30 mpg with the 5-speed manual transmission and it's always been a fun car to drive.Dec 12, 2011

the acceleration is fairly good, doesn't have good handling in snow
it has needed a few repairs
it gets good gas mileage, maintenance is fairly low
this car is fun to drive around the city or out on the highway.Oct 13, 2011

bland stying and looks make this car look like a housing comimssions car but the
vg30e engine that was also used in the 300zx (z31) and some luxury features such
as velor interior and stock powerful audio system (back in 1991 from factory) made
by clarion with a cd player but the car had retained some new sporty features such
as a rear spoiler, stock tinted taillights, twin tip exsorst, sport funtion on the
transmission as well as comfort mode and twin thotle bodies Sep 20, 2011

Great car. Get past the broken window regulators and rewiring the blown BOSE system and you're good to go! Handles very well- handling potential becomes more impressive if compared in FWD class. Acceleration with the the 5-speed is effortless. Has a high redline with especially notable top end power. Build quality and material choice is superb for an early 90's Japanese sedan. Car has a very rare engine so parts are harder to come by- but has a great cult following (support group- maxima.org) that makes finding replacement and performance parts easier. Very rewarding vehicle IF you take care of it- requires a picky owner. Well worth it.Oct 20, 2010

Was a ex-little old lady car w/ 60K on the odometer, know has over 100K w/ no major work ever needed. The O2 sensor acting up now, but that's ok, the recommended time was back at 60K :-) Most annoying repair had to be the power window regulator. Most expensive (in parts) were the front struts.
Plenty of power yet still gets decent gas mileage. Seat 4 6-footers comfortable. Over 16 yrs old yet everything works, no funky squeaks, rattles, leaks etc. One of the best cars I've ever owned!Dec 09, 2009

Sat for 3 years without being started, 5 gallons of gas, a new battery and 8 new spark plugs and she fired right up. This car sat through 3 springs, summers, falls, and harsh northern michigan winters. Show me an american car that can sit for 3 years without being started once and fire up on the first try.Dec 05, 2009

I love my car, our first Maxima went over 220,000 miles before
trading it in, not one major problem with it. The engine was still
in great shape and transmission as well. The car is very fun to
drive
Our current Maxima has a bad fuel injector unfortunately, but
when you consider what we paid ($500) then we really can have
no regrets after a year of heavy use. All we have replaced thus far
was a power steering pump. And this car was beat to hell BEFORE
we got it.
The one thing I will say is they are hit and miss. This car for instance had been mechiancly not the best, but the interiors has
held up very well over the years. Our first was just the opposite.
Gas mileage is about 30 on the highway, but not so great in town. Aug 28, 2009

It has pretty good performance, and decent handling. Its a blast to drive, and keeps me looking pretty good while doing so. When nissan called this the 4 door sports car back in the day they weren't kidding. So far the cost of ownership hasnt been bad, however I see a transmission job in my near future. :(Feb 10, 2009

I love my car! Performance is great, just fast enough for me. Built great. All older cars need up keep, but the only repairs i have done so far are struts, wipers, wiper fluid squirters, oil change, belts. It does need new rotors, but not immediately, according to a mechanic I don't even have to change them for a year. Appearance is great, only body damage is scratches on the passengers side from a minor accident with the previous owner.Aug 19, 2008

For a foreign car I am impressed.
This car has great acceleration and might actually out handle my Firebird.
The quality of the interior is perfect, although I am not too sure about a few of the button placements on the dash. I am amazed how comfortable the seats are.
It is a bit harder on fuel then I expected, but has required little maintenance for the age and milage of the car.
I would buy another one in a flash.Aug 15, 2008

I just happen to have gotten this car pre-beaten and its in pretty rough shape. Rust, broken parts, well and the fact that it is a nice car is mainly why i still love it and have. good performance and overall decent fuel economy.Jun 16, 2008

1993 Nissan Maxima GXE, with a 3 year old engine (recently rebuilt). The 1993 Nissan Maxima GXE has been the best car I've owned, and when I go to buy another car you better believe it will be a Maxima. A 2008 or 2009 Maxima, with that lovely ass Six-Speed Manual Transmission.Jun 07, 2008

with 230K, its still going strong. Original engine and transaxel, leather seats in front are a mess, sunroof opens but doesnt slide, and the air has a leak, and the rear windows are permanently closed, but it is a solid car, and I wouldnt be afraid to drive anywhere.May 23, 2008

it's often looked down upon because it is a sedan. but the 3rd generation (89-94) nissan maxima is named the 4dsc for it's performance. it have a v6 3 liter VG engine that produce 160 horsepower on a sohc and 190 on a dohc. I love this car! it's powerful, reliable, and quite quick for a 4 door.

I have sunk a lot of money into this baby to make her unique. With custom paint, headlights and taillights, it is definitely one of a kind.Apr 11, 2008

Went through 1 transmission and several timing belt changes (routine maintenance). The only trouble I ever had was I didn't have 2 of them.

I have had my car for 8 months now. It has 146,000 miles on it and runs pretty good. I have had a couple issues like a leak in the power steering fluid and overheating which was fixed with a new temperature sensor. Sometimes it has a hard time kicking into gear. The seating is very comfortable unlike new cars today. I wish it had a bit more pickup, but it is a 1990. I think it's held up pretty well.Apr 01, 2008
