This car was the right fit for me. I have been driving a 2 door sports car and trying to pile in a larger dog and my boyfriend is not very convient. I needed something bigger to take on adventures and this was it. My dog already loves it and will take naps in the back. Other than a rattling noise it is great. Oct 28, 2021

Everything about the Kia Sorento is great. Off-road is fun but still safe and driving in the snow and ice is safe and comfortable. I like the looks of this car and on the radio a system was put in which made the quality even higher. I love my car.Apr 14, 2015

This SUV was a great value for what I paid. Overall it's austere vehicle, but very solid, well built and reliable. I'm not someone who pays extra for catchy/cliched marketing and Kia definitely fit that bill. I would definitely buy another Kia. Korean engineering is the best around these days, better than Japan, Germany, US - I think.Jan 13, 2015

I bought this vehicle when it had about 20,000 miles on it and proved to be reliable until at about 50,000 miles. Immediately past 50,000 miles I began to experience multitude of problems with the vehicle. Despite doing regular tune ups and carrying out other recommended services, the problems keep coming. I bought this car brand new and have been the only owner of the vehicle. Since I have owned this car it has always proven to be very reliable and I have found the scheduled maintenance on the vehicle to always be very affordable.Aug 15, 2014

Has been reliable over the 10 years. Some corrosion on the luggage compartment door. Huge fuel guzzler. Main electrical control unit for interior lighting and license plate shorts and requires replacement regularly. Very comfortable ride. Lots of cargo room. Overall great vehicle.Jul 16, 2013

Great for a small family. It is really great for a college student. It is reliable and does not use a lot of gas. It does not drive like a heavy truck. It is easily manageable and maintenance is not an issue.Jan 29, 2013

My wife and I were debating between the Kia Sorento, Chevy Equinox and Ford Escape. The Chevy was ruled out, only because it was the first year of the new model. I normally like to wait until the 2nd or 3rd model year to purchase; especially after my mom's history with her year-1 Pacifica. I ruled out the Ford Escape after I tried to test drive one and felt like I was eating my knees. I'm only 6', but have a large / muscular frame @ 250; a 210 or smaller man may have fit fine, but that particular model year (2004) just wasn't comfortable for me with the Escape.
After I test drove the Kia, my wife took it out and really liked it. We took it home later that day. I think we traded in my 1996 Chevy s-10.
I drive the Sorento on occasion, but it's my wife's car. She drives it to school (teacher) and back to Pittsburgh when she and my son go back in the summer. It has treated us rather well, not needing many repairs until recently, which I tend to expect at the 8 - 10 year mark.
My wife likes the ride, except for the tires not always feeling like they grip on hard turns. It has a 3.5 DOHC that generates decent power, especially when O/D is turned off. She hopes to continue driving it for several more years.
While I'm sure that a Lexus RX owner would slap me for saying so, the 2004 Sorento looks similar to the Lexus RX-line; at least to me. It's not boxy. Handles fairly well. Has good power, for a v6. Gas mileage isn't great, but not bad, especially since she only drives ~10 miles one way for school + short trips around the house. My wife likes the height vantage as well, with it riding higher than a sedan.Nov 28, 2012

This car is great it feels like your driving a huge great monster truck lol, i have to admit the ride is a tad bouncy but it is surprisingly comfortable, it is good off road also as have given it a punishing on Dartmoor and it handled it very well.
Fuel is ok on long journeys but not so hot around town :)Jun 03, 2010

gas mileage could be better (20.5), but A++ in every other assessment - I LOVE it. Handles beautifully - is a pleasure to drive. Looks better than any other SUVs. I have every imaginable option (except the hot tub) installed, and all have been trouble-free. For years, KIAs were cheap, despite their incredible warranty. I think KIA used the feedback from warranty repairs to boost quality , while their low prices captured the market. They are not so cheap anymore, but you get a quality vehicle with more value for your money than from any other brand. No, I did not receive any remuneration for this.Mar 09, 2010

Works great in both mud and snow, underrated for its off road capailities. Body on ladder type frame construction and real 4X4 gearing, it will go anywhere a Jeep will. Spacious and confortable, is also a good daily commuter. Very solid. Sep 26, 2009

My kia is great, I actually raced it at Rockingham Dragway one weekend and it suprised all the people there that it performed so well. I even beat a camaro my first time. Kia's are really well built cars, and even thought the Sorento is an SUV its gas mileage isn't all that bad.Jul 20, 2009
