Timing belt and transmission

Asked by Rolor Jul 01, 2016 at 09:04 PM about the 2004 Toyota Sienna 4 Dr LE Passenger Van

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have been talking to about a dozen shops. My van
just started to not have any power when I first take
off. After I pick up speed then it seems to be ok till
I'll have to stop again and accelerate. I took it to
one place and they said that I have 2 codes
showing. The P0016 crankshaft and the code
P0748 shift solenoid valve SL1. They told me it's
the valve in the transmission and to take it to a
transmission shop. So I did now they are telling me
it's not the transmission but that the timing belt is
off. That is what is causing both those codes to
come on. So for 3 days I'm been told one thing and
another. I don't know where to start and can't afford
to throw money at just anything. Please help!!!
Thanks!

it sounds like your transmission is stuck in high gear and not starting in a lower gear and going up gears one. two and three. if so that would be a trans. solenoid failed . pull the shifter down to low for a go from a standstill, and shift it up manually to see results
