How to fix Fan Belt squealing?

Asked by May 06, 2013 at 10:36 AM about the 2004 Toyota Sienna 4 Dr XLE AWD Passenger Van

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2004 Sienna fan belt has been squealing for a while now.  I have tried to tighten it using the tension screw (I think it is the tension screw) below one of the pulleys, but it doesn't seem to do anything.  Any guidance on fixing the squealing?

Replace the belt. Or here is another option: have a toyota mechanic fix it!!

Replace the tensioner too. They're good for around 10 years/ 100,000 miles.

Sometimes the pulley goes bad and makes a continuous squeal. Alot of times its the pulley on the AC.

The guys above are right . Just don't waste any $$ on the home remedies touted by old shade tree mechanics-- they're often wrong and are not designed for todays better built engines.
