The housing of the 3rd brake light is held on my some U clips. These plastic clips are fragile so in removing it be careful. - Remove the house by using two hands on each of the sides and slide it back. Careful that you slide it straight back evenly, about about .5" and 1" and it should unclip. - Slide it back just enough for you to see part of the bulb. Approach if from under the rear deck and unplugs the bulb and replace it with a new one. When handling a new bulb I suggest gloves to a paper towel so that you do not touch it with your fingers. Your fingers will leave a film or oil on it that could eventually burn itself on the bulb. Not likely since that happens on bulbs that stay on longer but I use the same principle on all bulbs. - Then slide the housing back into the clips in the reverse manner (you may even want to hit the brakes to see if it works before you put the housing back on) Hope that helps

In the 2001 ES 300 you don't need clip removers or any of thatit looks like this under the cover {}------{} (U)--(U) push back to unclip it from the (U) screw and after that pull back to get the brackets out of the hole {}
