Water pump on 3.0 V6 Chrysler

Asked by Jonathan Nov 27, 2018 at 01:56 AM about the 1999 Chrysler Voyager

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I’m not the smartest guy in the world but
somewhat intelligent . Is it possible which I
believe it should be to stabilize all the
sprockets and the belt position prior to
removing the water pump then install the new
pump exactly replacing the old belt in the
same precise position it was as well as all
sprockets and DONE!! No lining up timing
marks and motor not starting and getting
new belts for an Antigue that probably isn’t
even worth as much as the new timing belt
cost lol.. seems logical to me but please
correct me if I’m wrong and I’m not
understanding the mechanical science here ?

Sorry, sure why not, use C clamps and vice grips then tape or zip tie the belt to the pulleys except the tensioner.
