2021 Jeep Wrangler Reviews Summary

The Jeep Wrangler is an icon. Sports cars like the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Corvette may often be described as icons, but they can’t hold a candle to the Wrangler’s bona fides. It harkens back to the original Willys Jeep and has evolved through the years to be an instantly recognizable fixture of the American motoring landscape.

What makes this all the more incredible is how the industry has changed through the years. The best-selling SUVs on the market are all based on car platforms, and emphasize efficiency and comfort. Yet the rugged, comparatively inefficient Wrangler, which also rides like a truck, is still popular.

Part of that comes from being different from everyone else, but another part is Jeep’s commitment to continually update the Wrangler to meet the demands of its buyers. The four-door 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited accomplishes both, by now offering a Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid (changing with the times) and a potent Hemi V8 (beating to its own drum). Both powertrains are exclusive to the four-door Wrangler; neither is available with the two-door Wrangler body style.

2021 Land Rover Range Rover Reviews Summary

The inimitable automotive journalist John Pearley Huffman once referred to the Land Rover Range Rover as the “Montecito Camry.” He’s right. Within the confines of this money-drenched enclave near Santa Barbara, California, you are more likely to see a Range Rover prowling the streets than you are Toyota’s popular family sedan. But, if you’ve ever spent any time in a modern Range Rover, you know why it is the SUV of choice for the truly wealthy.

2021 Jeep Wrangler

7/10

2021 Land Rover Range Rover

9/10

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler retained its iconic design, characterized by circular headlights, a seven-slat grille, and exposed bolts and hinges. Its rugged appearance, reminiscent of a toy truck for adults, was unmistakable on the road. The Wrangler offered various trim levels, each with unique styling elements, but all maintained the core design features that defined the Wrangler's identity. Inside, the Wrangler prioritized function over comfort, with upright seating and limited legroom, appealing to drivers who valued its charm over luxury.

In contrast, the 2021 Land Rover Range Rover evolved from its utilitarian roots to become a symbol of luxury. With a starting price of $92,000, it offered a wide range of powertrains and personalization options, allowing for a highly customized experience. The Range Rover's design, with its hallmark blacked-out windshield and roof pillars, exuded timeless elegance. Inside, the cabin was a testament to luxury, featuring high-quality materials and a mid-century modern ambiance. Despite its age, the Range Rover's design remained relevant, drawing inspiration from its storied past.

The standard 3.6-liter V6 produced 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, paired with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Wrangler's off-road capabilities were enhanced by three 4WD systems: Command-Trac, Select-Trac, and Rock-Trac, each catering to different off-road needs. The Rubicon 392, with its 6.4-liter V8 engine, delivered an impressive 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, transforming the Wrangler into an off-road powerhouse.

The 2021 Land Rover Range Rover offered a range of powertrains, including turbodiesel V6, supercharged V8, mild-hybrid, and plug-in hybrid options. The 2021 Land Rover Range Rover boasted a fully digital instrumentation and infotainment system with three displays.
