2022 Jeep Wrangler Reviews SummaryFor a long time, the Jeep Wrangler represented a vehicle class of one. Where else could you get a two-door or four-door convertible with removable doors, a fold-down windshield, and go-anywhere off-roading capability wrapped in retro styling cues? Today, the Ford Bronco meets that same description and, in some ways, is superior to the 2022 Jeep Wrangler. But we love this anachronistic throwback of an SUV anyway, warts and all, even if the overall rating appears to suggest otherwise. And a handful of changes to the 2022 Wrangler do nothing but further cement our appreciation of this formerly one-of-a-kind vehicle.
2023 Genesis GV70 Reviews SummaryThe definition of luxury has changed. No matter where you look in the various premium vehicle segments, there are entrants that you may not have seen decades ago. From performance SUVs to subcompact crossovers, there are new takes on upscale vehicles. But just as crucially is the entrance of new players. In 2015, the Genesis brand was officially spun off from Hyundai. And with the brand’s expansion into various segments, a compact like the 2023 Genesis GV70 was a must. The GV70 was introduced for the 2022 model year and for 2023, an all-electric model joins the lineup. We evaluated the GV70 on the whole, but with a special focus on how effective the 2023 Genesis GV70 Electrified is as an EV and as a compact luxury crossover.

The 2022 Jeep Wrangler offered a choice between the classic two-door and the more practical four-door model, with a variety of powertrains including a turbocharged four-cylinder, gasoline V6, turbodiesel V6, gas V8, and a plug-in hybrid. The Wrangler came in four core trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon, with numerous special editions. The High Tide special edition, based on the four-door Sport S trim, featured LED exterior lighting, a body-color hardtop with a Sunrider Fliptop, and a Gorilla Glass windshield. The Xtreme Recon package added a 1.5-inch suspension lift, 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, and 35-inch BF Goodrich T/A KO2 tires. Despite its rugged appeal, the interior remained basic, with a focus on durability over luxury.
The 2023 Genesis GV70, with its stylistic connections to the G70 compact luxury sedan, boasted a luxurious interior with top-notch materials and a contemporary design. The cabin featured a full touchscreen backed by a rotary dial and button controls, offering a user-friendly experience. The GV70 was available in gas-powered and electrified versions, with the gas model offering 2.5T and 3.5T trims, and the electrified version offering Advance and Prestige trims. The GV70 Electrified Prestige trim impressed with its luxury credentials, featuring soft, cream-colored seats with a quilt stitch pattern and a high-contrast design with black leather accents.
The 2022 Jeep Wrangler High Tide was equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 engine with eTorque mild-hybrid electrification, producing 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. It featured an eight-speed automatic transmission and Selec-Trac full-time 4WD. The Wrangler's fuel economy was rated at 21 mpg in combined driving, but real-world testing showed an average of 16.8 mpg. The driving experience was unique, with a focus on off-road capability and a rugged, immersive feel, though it came with compromises in comfort and refinement.
The 2023 Genesis GV70 offered a choice between a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, and a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine with 375 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque. Both engines were paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The GV70 Electrified featured a 77.4-kWh battery pack powering two electric motors, producing a combined 429 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, with a Boost Mode increasing output to 483 horsepower. The electric GV70 had a range of 236 miles and could charge from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes on a fast charger.
The 2022 Jeep Wrangler's raised suspension made entry and exit challenging, especially for shorter individuals. The interior featured durable cloth upholstery and a basic design, with limited storage options. The Wrangler Unlimited offered 31.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat, expanding to 72.4 cubic feet with the rear seat folded.
The 2023 Genesis GV70 provided 56.9 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded and 28.9 cubic feet with the seats in use. The GV70 featured a hands-free power liftgate and a well-designed interior with ample storage options. Front-seat passengers enjoyed comfortable seating, while rear-seat legroom was tighter, though the rear bench could recline for added comfort.
The 2022 Jeep Wrangler High Tide featured a 7-inch touchscreen display with Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Optional upgrades included a larger 8.4-inch touchscreen with satellite radio, connected services, and an Alpine premium sound system. The Wrangler also offered remote engine starting, satellite radio, and a passive keyless entry system.
The 2023 Genesis GV70 came standard with a 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. It included four USB ports, wireless device charging, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a nine-speaker stereo system. The GV70 also offered ambient lighting, a digital instrument panel, and the Genesis digital key.
The 2022 Jeep Wrangler High Tide included the Safety Group and Advanced Safety Group, offering features like blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking. However, the Wrangler's crash-test ratings were mediocre, with a three-star rating for rollover resistance from the NHTSA and Marginal ratings from the IIHS.
The 2023 Genesis GV70 offered a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance features, including forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring. The GV70 Electrified included most of these features as standard, with the head-up display available in the Prestige trim.
