Why it stands out
The 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E stands out as a sporty all-electric crossover that continues to improve while keeping the Mustang name in the spotlight. Ford’s ongoing attention has made it a stronger value proposition, and the 2024 lineup adds a new Rally trim while also bringing key upgrades to the rest of the range. Its stylish design is a major part of the appeal, and it also comes with standard advanced safety features.
There are still tradeoffs to consider. The ride is described as uncomfortably stiff, and the cabin lacks physical buttons for climate control. Even so, the Mustang Mach-E’s ability to receive over-the-air updates and post-purchase upgrades helps it feel like a vehicle that can keep evolving after it leaves the showroom, which is a meaningful advantage for buyers who want an electric crossover that stays current.

Reviewed a 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E on Jul 15, 2024
The newly updated Mach-E GT has some great features from the previous GT Performance Editions, but Ford has removed some standard options from previous year models. One big one is the hands free rear trunk option. The Magride suspension is amazing. Overall, I think the new GT’s are a great value at the reduced price point (compared to my 2021 GT).

Is the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E a good car?
Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 8.5/10. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Cost effectiveness.
The 2024 Mustang Mach-E is a sporty all-electric crossover with distinctive styling, a minimalist cabin, and meaningful over-the-air update capability. Ford’s continued updates help it feel current, and the new Rally trim broadens the lineup for shoppers who want a more adventurous take.
The trade-offs are clear: the ride is described as uncomfortably stiff, and the cabin lacks physical buttons for climate control. If you want an EV crossover that leans into style and tech rather than softness, that balance may work for you.
With 35.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2024 Mustang Mach-E is presented as a vehicle that Ford continues to improve, and its ability to receive over-the-air updates helps it stay current after purchase. That matters for an EV, because software and feature updates can extend the sense of freshness beyond the original sale.
Ford also highlights post-purchase upgrades, which adds flexibility if you want to tailor the vehicle later. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car has been maintained well and that its software, charging behavior, and battery condition are all in good shape.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on an EV where software, charging, and battery condition matter. Focus on overall condition, how the cabin controls work for you, and whether the car has been used in a way that matches your driving and charging habits.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The lineup emphasizes a distinctive exterior, a minimalist interior, and trim-specific styling changes, with the Rally and GT standing out more than the lower trims. Base-level equipment gaps matter most if you want the richer seat, wheel, or appearance upgrades found higher up.
- Powertrain: The 2024 model uses a rear eMotor update across the range, with single-motor rear-wheel drive on lower trims and dual-motor all-wheel drive on higher-performance versions. Output and efficiency vary by configuration, so match the drivetrain to your range and traction priorities.
- Safety package: BlueCruise 1.3 is available, and the Ford CoPilot 360 suite includes blind-spot information with cross-traffic alert, pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, evasive steering assist, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree camera. Check whether the specific trim or option package includes the features you want.
- Infotainment: You get a 15.5-inch portrait touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and SYNC 4A with over-the-air update capability. Because climate controls live on the screen, make sure you’re comfortable with the interface before you buy.
- Range & charging: The standard-range battery is 72 kWh and can charge from 10 to 80% in 32 minutes on DC fast charging, while the extended-range battery is 91 kWh and takes about 36 minutes for the same charge window. EPA range reaches 250 miles on the base rear-drive setup and 320 miles on the extended-range rear-drive Premium, while GT and Rally range is lower.
- Battery health: Ask for battery state-of-health information if it’s available, and pay attention to how the car has been charged over time. A used EV that has mostly seen home charging and sensible DC fast charging habits is generally easier to live with, and you should also confirm how much of the battery warranty remains.
Which 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E trim should I buy?
The 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E is offered in 4 trim levels: Select, Premium, GT, Rally.
Here's the short version:
- Select: This is the entry point if you want the Mach-E’s style, standard safety tech, and EV basics without paying for the higher-performance hardware. It makes the most sense if you care more about value and everyday use than extra speed or premium trim content.
- Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it unlocks the longest available range at 320 miles when configured with the extended-range battery and rear-wheel drive. If you want the most balanced mix of range, comfort, and features, this is the one to focus on.
- GT: Choose this if you want the sportier side of the Mach-E, including standard performance hardware such as MagneRide damping, Brembo front brake calipers, and Ford Performance front seats. It’s the trim for buyers who want stronger performance without going all the way to the Rally.
- Rally: This is the most distinctive trim, with unique rally-inspired styling, a 1-inch lift, and suspension tuning meant to account for off-road use as well as road driving. It suits you best if you want the most adventurous-looking Mach-E and don’t mind giving up some range.
BlueCruise 1.3 is available on every 2024 Mustang Mach-E, so safety and highway-driving assistance are broadly covered across the lineup.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile opportunities.
- Deal availability: 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,911 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.44% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 93.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $30,303.78, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E's resale value?
The current average of $33,194 sits slightly below last year's $35,480.
That softer pricing suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favor, which can make it harder for a seller to command top dollar right away. If you own one, condition and trim choice matter a lot: cleaner examples and better-equipped versions should hold attention more easily than rougher or less desirable ones.
The fact that prices have eased also means future resale will likely depend on how well the car presents at the time of sale. A well-kept Mach-E with strong equipment and a clean history should remain easier to move than one with visible wear or unresolved issues.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E safe?
The 2024 Mustang Mach-E earned a Top Safety Pick award from IIHS, and NHTSA awarded five-star ratings in side crash and rollover testing.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
BlueCruise 1.3 is available on every 2024 Mustang Mach-E, and the Ford CoPilot 360 suite includes blind-spot information with cross-traffic alert, pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, evasive steering assist, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree camera. That gives you a broad standard safety package across the lineup.
The main caveat is that the safety story is strongest in the context of driver assistance and crash performance, while the cabin’s screen-based controls may take some getting used to. If you want a used EV with a strong safety résumé and a full suite of standard assists, this one fits that brief well.
Should I buy a 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.44% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- Ford adds a new Rally trim and broader updates that keep the lineup feeling fresh.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $31,153, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $33,194 average.
- It offers a polished electric crossover with strong style, technology, and everyday usability.
The bottom line: If you want the freshest version with the broadest mix of updates, the 2024 is the better default choice. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2023 is the smarter value play and still gives you much of the Mach-E experience.
