Why it stands out
The 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E stands out as a polished electric crossover that blends style, performance, technology, and utility. It is described as a rolling showcase of Ford’s engineering and technological prowess, and it also earns praise for being fun to drive, comfortable, and impressive on the tech front. That combination makes it appealing to buyers who want an EV that feels more engaging than purely practical.
For 2023, the Mach-E’s Premium trim level offers up to 290 miles of range. The California Route 1 comes only with all-wheel drive and 312 miles of range this year, while the GT gets a standard panoramic glass roof. New Carbonized Gray and Vapor Blue paint colors also debut, and Ford has introduced an enhanced version of its BlueCruise hands-free highway driving technology. Those updates help keep the Mach-E feeling current and well equipped.
The main drawbacks are also clear: its electric range is described as unimpressive, the ride quality can be choppy, and it needs a head-up display. Even so, the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E remains a compelling choice for shoppers who value a stylish EV with strong technology and a broad mix of everyday usability and driving appeal.

Switched from a performance model Y to this. No regrets. Not as neck breaking fast but quick enough. Better ride quality

Finally pulled the trigger and purchased my Mach-E GT. No regrets, I love all the features, love the performance, and look of my GT. Comparing to the Tesla Y, the charging I thought would be a challenge but the EV charging market has significantly improved and is more reliable and available. The range could be better, but like most EVs, performance or range? But getting over 250 miles a charge is not bad at all considering how the car performs. Love it, go get one!!

It’s really too expensive, but pricing will improve with supply and competition. Smooth, quiet, comfortable, powerful and extremely well equipped. Door and panel gaps are consistent and tight. Build quality seems top notch. I would like a little quicker access to the camera button, but it’s not a big issue. There may be a quicker way already built in, but I haven’t found it. So far a great car.

| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $31,153 |
| Year-Round Low | $29,051.99 |
| Year-Round High | $32,968.40 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $32,039 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −2.76% |
Prices have softened 2.76% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
With 2,346 listings available, you have a solid amount of inventory to compare before you commit.
If you find a listing below $29,051.99, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E a good car?
Yes — the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating, which puts it in strong territory for used EV shoppers. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Safety.
Owners consistently praise its impressive performance, stylish design, and advanced technology, and they also appreciate the all-wheel-drive capability and quiet, smooth ride. On the downside, the expert review points to unimpressive electric range and a choppy ride quality, so you should weigh those trade-offs against the car’s strengths.
If you want an EV that feels more engaging than purely practical, the overview makes clear that this one is aimed at shoppers who value style, tech, and everyday usability together. With 33.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s enough market activity to shop selectively.
Is the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner summary also points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with praise centered on its quiet, smooth ride and the confidence that comes from strong performance and technology.
The expert review reinforces that sense of consistency by describing the Mach-E as a polished EV that delivers style, performance, technology, and utility in equal measure. It also notes that the model can qualify for maintenance-related savings through incentives, which can help reduce early ownership costs.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic satisfaction and more about making sure the specific vehicle has been cared for properly, especially if it has seen heavy charging or high mileage.
What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing multiple trims or higher-mileage examples. Focus on overall condition, charging behavior, and whether the car’s features and equipment match the listing description.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The lineup includes Select, Premium, California Route 1, and GT trim levels. The GT stands out with revised bumpers, unique 20-inch wheels, and a dark front panel, while the Premium trim is the one tied to the highest range figure mentioned in the review. Base-trim shoppers should pay close attention to feature gaps, especially if you want the more upscale look and equipment.
- Powertrain: You can find single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive setups, with standard-range and extended-range battery packs. Output spans a wide range, and the GT uses an extended-range battery with AWD, 480 horsepower, and 600 lb-ft of torque.
- Safety package: Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 is standard across the lineup, along with BlueCruise hands-free highway driving. The surround-view camera and BlueCruise may vary by trim, so verify equipment carefully on the exact vehicle you’re considering.
- Infotainment: The Mach-E uses a 15.5-inch vertical touchscreen with Sync 4A, over-the-air updates, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and wireless smartphone charging.
- Range & charging: The review cites up to 290 miles of range for Premium and 312 miles for California Route 1. It also notes an official EPA estimate of 270 miles for the GT and a 40 kWh/100 mi efficiency figure for that version.
- Battery health: As with any used EV, you should ask about battery state-of-health, review charging habits, and confirm whether the car was mostly charged at home or relied heavily on DC fast charging. Also check how much of the battery warranty remains.
Which 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E trim should I buy?
The 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E is offered in 4 trim levels: Select, Premium, California Route 1, and GT.
Here's the short version:
- Select: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Mach-E experience at the lowest starting price. Just make sure the equipment level matches your expectations, especially if you want the more advanced convenience and driver-assistance features found higher up the range.
- Premium: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it combines a more upscale feel with the strongest range figure mentioned in the review. If you want the most balanced mix of comfort, tech, and usability, this is the trim to focus on first.
- California Route 1: Choose this if range matters most and you want the all-wheel-drive setup that comes with it this year. It’s the trim for buyers who want a longer-legged EV without stepping all the way up to the GT.
- GT: Pick this if you want the most performance and the most distinctive appearance. It adds the strongest power output, the quickest acceleration, and a more aggressive look, but it’s the least value-oriented choice if your priority is everyday commuting.
Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 is standard across the lineup, and BlueCruise availability can vary by trim, so verify the exact safety equipment before you buy.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.
- Deal availability: 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,346 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.76% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 91.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $29,051.99, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E's resale value?
The current average of $31,153 sits slightly below last year's $32,039.
That softer pricing suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more carefully now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than assuming the market will lift all examples equally.
Because the model still has strong owner satisfaction and broad appeal, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E safe?
It earns top marks from IIHS in most assessments, and the review also notes that it was a Top Safety Pick for the 2022 calendar year. It earns five-star ratings for side-impact protection and rollover resistance from NHTSA, while frontal-impact results were unavailable at the time of the review.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Ford’s Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 is standard across the lineup, along with BlueCruise hands-free highway driving. The review also notes that the surround-view camera and BlueCruise may vary by trim, so you should confirm the exact equipment on the vehicle you’re considering.
One caveat is that the expert review says the Mach-E needs a head-up display, especially because some BlueCruise alerts rely on the digital instrument panel rather than a more immediate visual cue.
Should I buy a 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.76% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- Ford adds enhanced BlueCruise 1.2 with lane-change and predictive speed assist.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $33,194, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $31,153 average.
- It adds a new Rally trim and broader lineup upgrades.
The bottom line: If you want the better buy today, the 2023 is the smarter starting point because it combines lower average pricing with strong owner satisfaction and plenty of inventory. If you’re willing to pay more for the newer model’s added trim and updates, the 2024 is worth a look; otherwise, the 2023 gives you the stronger value play.
