CarGurus Analysis: 2021 Chevrolet Blazer
overall

Summary
With 174 currently listed for sale near Chicago, IL and an average price of $21,739.00, 26.4% of 2021 Chevrolet Blazers for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer 4.88 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.5 / 10.
83.3% of 2021 Blazer models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2021 Chevrolet Blazer stands out by putting exterior design and performance ahead of everything else. It has a sporty, Camaro-inspired personality, and its handling is one of its biggest strengths. The technology is also easy to use, which helps the Blazer feel approachable even as it leans into style and driving enjoyment.
That appeal comes with tradeoffs. The interior materials feel cheap, the transmission is irritating, and the Blazer is described as poor value for money. It is also positioned as a rarer sight on the road because it sits between two other Chevrolet crossovers, with the Equinox offering a lower price and similar cargo space and the Traverse adding a third row while costing the same and using the same powertrain. For buyers who want a crossover that prioritizes looks and road manners, the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer has a clear identity, but it asks a premium for that character.

I love this vehicle! Plenty of leg room, comfortable seating and responsive. I love the 308 hp V6. I had gotten away from Chevrolet for sometime. The value and dependability of their vehicles dropped considerably . The Blazer is the redeeming vehicle for me. The options on my Blazer are great for me and may not be suitable for other customers but at least there are plenty to choose from. If Great value for the money.

I really like the look of the Blazer, very sporty looking. I test drove the RS with the 3.6L V6 engine and it was very responsive and appeared to have plenty of power. Interior is only available in black and seemed plain, even with the red accents that come with the RS package. I did like the dash configuration and gauge cluster, reminded me of the Camaro. Over all I liked it, but compared to equally equipped Jeep Grand Cherokee or Ford Edge it is overpriced. Pricing seems to be the same as the Traverse which is a larger SUV.

How much does the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $21,577 |
| Year-Round Low | $21,582.44 |
| Year-Round High | $23,763.53 |

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer a good car?
Yes — the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer earns a 4.88/5 user rating, and our experts give it 6.5/10.
The standout strength is Technology at 8/10.
Drivers consistently praise the sporty look, responsive power, and driving enjoyment, and they also call out the feature set as a major plus. The Blazer’s appeal is strongest if you want a crossover that feels more distinctive and more engaging than the average family hauler.
The trade-offs are clear: the interior materials feel cheap, the transmission is irritating, and value for money is a weak point. It fits you best if you want style and road manners first, not the most polished cabin or the lowest price.
The Blazer’s 30.1% good or great deal rate shows there are still some attractive listings to be found.
Is the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer reliable?
Owners rate it 4.88/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with drivers repeatedly highlighting the Blazer as a vehicle they enjoy living with over time. The review summary also emphasizes strong features and a driving experience that owners feel good about counting on.
Our experts also describe the Blazer as a vehicle that feels solid on the road, with a composed chassis and confident handling that support everyday use. The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which helps early ownership costs.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether you can live with the Blazer’s premium pricing and less refined cabin over time.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Blazer?
At 73.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and signs of prior repair. Because this model’s appeal depends so much on condition and presentation, you’ll want to focus on cabin wear, electronics, and how well the transmission behaves on a test drive.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The lineup includes L, LT, RS, and Premier, and the base setup is the least appealing because the cabin is plain and the feature set is thinner than higher trims.
- Powertrain: The 2.5-liter inline-four is underpowered and noisy, the 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder is the better mainstream choice, and the 3.6-liter V6 is the strongest option.
- Safety package: Driver assists include forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, and automatic high beams, but they are standard on most trims except the L and 1LT.
- Infotainment: Every Blazer gets an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the Plus version adds navigation, traffic, 4G WiFi, onboard apps, better voice recognition, and two-phone pairing.
- Fuel efficiency: The AWD V6 is rated at 19 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined, while the AWD turbo inline-four is rated at 22/27/24.
Which 2021 Chevrolet Blazer trim should I buy?
The 2021 Chevrolet Blazer is offered in 4 trim levels: L, LT, RS, Premier.
Here's the short version:
- L: This is the cheapest way into the Blazer, but it pairs the model with the weakest engine and the least compelling overall value, so you should only consider it if price is your only priority.
- LT: This is the best-value starting point because it moves you away from the base setup and gives you a more sensible foundation for the Blazer’s style and tech.
- RS: This is the trim to choose if you care most about the Blazer’s sporty personality, since it gets the strongest engine and the performance-focused hardware that best matches the chassis.
- Premier: This is the upscale choice if you want the most comfort-oriented presentation and the richest available equipment, but it asks for the most money.
The safety package is standard on most trims except the L and 1LT, so if you want the full driver-assistance set, avoid the lowest-spec versions.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Blazer?
The market looks selective rather than overheated, so you can shop carefully and still find opportunities.
- Deal availability: 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,203 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.21% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 73.6% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,582.44, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer's resale value?
The current average of $21,577 sits slightly below last year's $23,767.
That decline suggests the Blazer has become more affordable for buyers, but it also means sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you own one, the current market favors well-kept examples with the right trim and equipment rather than average-condition listings.
Because the model has softened in price, your resale outcome will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how desirable your trim is to shoppers. Strong presentation matters here, especially since buyers are already comparing the Blazer against better-value rivals.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer safe?
The 2021 Blazer scored an overall five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and in all three crash tests. The front passenger scored four stars in the frontal crash and the vehicle scored four stars in the rollover test. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the Blazer top "Good" ratings in all crash tests, but "Marginal" and "Poor" ratings for headlights.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
A driver's knee airbag is standard. GM's inboard side airbag, which inflates between the driver and passenger seat, is not offered. Neither is rear emergency braking. The enhanced forward emergency braking uses radar in addition to the camera, and it is only available on top trims with the Driver Confidence II package.
Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 73.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.21% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It combines sporty styling, strong handling, and easy-to-use technology.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $24,002, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $21,577 average.
- It adds more cargo utility and remains best used on pavement.
The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2021 is the smarter buy because prices have eased and the market still offers plenty of listings to compare. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2022 is the secondary path, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2021’s stronger market position.
