How much does the 2018 Honda Odyssey cost?

There are 2,306 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2018 Honda Odyssey a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Honda Odyssey earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

Owners repeatedly praise its spaciousness, comfort, family-friendly features, reliability, and modern design. That lines up with the overview’s focus on a refined, versatile family vehicle that feels more capable and more engaging to drive than a typical minivan. With 36.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you also have a decent chance of finding a strong-value example.

Is the 2018 Honda Odyssey reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability and trouble-free ownership as recurring strengths, and it also highlights the van’s family-friendly durability over time. The expert driving notes reinforce that sense of dependability by describing the Odyssey as improved in handling and power while remaining composed and easy to live with. The cost-effectiveness commentary also frames it as a strong all-around value for buyers who want a vehicle they can count on.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is not mechanical drama so much as finding a well-kept example with the right maintenance history and no hidden wear from family use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Honda Odyssey?

At 60.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing multiple trims or higher-mileage examples. Focus on condition details that matter in a family van: interior wear, electronics, sliding-door operation, and signs of heavy use. If a listing looks unusually cheap, make sure the savings aren’t coming from prior damage or deferred maintenance.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the simplest version, with a small 5-inch screen, Bluetooth and USB input, and basic convenience features, while the EX adds power-sliding rear doors, keyless ignition and entry, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, satellite radio, HD Radio, and a much stronger safety suite. If you want the best value, the EX is the trim that most clearly adds the features many buyers expect in a family van.
• Powertrain: Every Odyssey uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 280 hp, and it can be paired with either a ZF 9-speed automatic or a Honda 10-speed automatic. The 10-speed is described as smoother and more responsive, while the 9-speed is noted as slower to shift and rougher when it does.
• Safety package: HondaSense is standard on every trim other than the base LX, and it includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning and intervention, forward-collision warning and mitigation, and adaptive cruise control. Parking sensors are reserved for higher trims.
• Infotainment: The infotainment system uses a 5-inch screen on the base LX, while the rear-seat entertainment setup on higher trims brings a 10-inch screen. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay appear on the EX, and the system is described as faster and more responsive than before.
• Fuel efficiency: The Odyssey returns 19 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined.

Which 2018 Honda Odyssey trim should I buy?

The 2018 Honda Odyssey is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring, Elite.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it’s pretty bare-bones for a family van. You get the core Odyssey strengths, yet the small screen and missing convenience and safety features make it the least compelling choice unless price is your only priority.
• EX: This is the best-value trim. It adds the features many shoppers will want right away, including power-sliding rear doors, keyless access, smartphone integration, and the full HondaSense safety suite, making it the smartest balance of equipment and price.
• EX-L: This trim adds leather, a power liftgate, a moonroof, memory settings, extra USB charging, and access to navigation and rear entertainment. It suits you if you want a more upscale family hauler and are willing to pay for it.
• Touring: This is the better pick if you want more luxury and convenience, with LED headlights, a hands-free liftgate, 4G LTE with Wi-Fi hotspot, front and rear parking sensors, and the 10-speed transmission.
• Elite: This is the top-end choice, adding 19-inch alloys, more acoustic glass, ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, rain-sensing wipers, and a 550-watt, 11-speaker stereo. It’s for you if you want the most fully equipped Odyssey.

HondaSense is standard on every trim other than the base LX, while parking sensors are limited to higher trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Honda Odyssey?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,306 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.16% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,251, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Honda Odyssey's resale value?

The current average of $19,251 sits slightly below last year's $20,962.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to give you a better entry point now than a year ago. For a future seller, that means resale value may be more sensitive to condition, mileage, and trim choice than to broad market momentum alone. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should still draw attention, but you should expect buyers to be selective.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Honda Odyssey safe?

The 2018 Honda Odyssey earns five-star ratings in every NHTSA test other than a four-star rollover rating.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

HondaSense is standard on every trim other than the base LX, and it includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning and intervention, forward-collision warning and mitigation, and adaptive cruise control. Parking sensors are limited to higher trims. The safety writeup also notes that the braking distance is average for the class, so you should still pay attention to tire condition and overall maintenance when shopping used.

Should I buy a 2018 Honda Odyssey or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Prices have softened 8.16% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It’s a redesigned model year with more features, better handling, improved versatility, and more power.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, features, and owner satisfaction, the 2018 is the year to target. If your priority is simply the lowest possible purchase price, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-maintained example rather than the newest badge.
