I am considering getting a 2006 Saturn ion with 180000 miles. all highway miles will the car last longer or is it near death

Depends on the price and it''s hard to say. It's a gamble with any used car. Any car with 180K miles will need some TLC. Most cars today you can get over 200K. But it depends on how it was maintained and if your willing to dump some money into now and then to keep it running. So your call. If I was buying a used car personally, I'd stick to ones in the 100K range. At least you know you have some time with the vehicle.
