My car will start, but when I turn anything on it tries to die. Is it the alternator or voltage regulator?
Check the voltage at the battery with it idling, it should be between 13.8 to 14.2 volts, if it is lower then the alternator should be tested and replaced if confirmed bad, if the volts are higher then the regulator is bad and can burn out the alternator in a short time. A lot of times it is just cheaper to replace the entire unit than just to replace the regulator. HTH
