Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I start my 2001 Mazda 626, should the light be on or off?  Mine is off, meaning the
overdrive is on, and only comes on when I push the button.

Light should be off, O/D on. In some cases where you will be driving constantly in the 35-45mph range and you don't want the transmission to "hunt" or shift constantly between 3rd and 4th gear (O/D), you turn O/D off/light on. HTH's.
