Car clicks when trying to start it, car won't start
We have a 2016 Chevy Cruze. The first thing that went wrong in March of 2019 was the Purge Canister needed to be replaced and it went down hill from there. We had to replace the Thermostat Housing because it melted and the hose popped off and sprayed antifreeze on everything under the hood. Since, we haven't been able to keep the car running in good shape. It was running hot then it just quit. When we turn the key to start it we just get a click. We've replaced the starter, throttle body, got a tune up and recharged the battery. It still only clicks when you turn the key. What else could it be.
at this point would take a good look at the timing apparatus, what happens is the tensioner bearing wears out, and creates slack, if not serviced say at 60,000 miles and the tensioner turns many many times, the "sleeve" sintered bronze bearing gets worn, and we have trouble, if we are lucky cam/crank relationship is still intact~ inspect~!
When the leak sprayed coolant all over the engine compartment, it got a lot of things wet, and it wasn't just water, it contained antifreeze. You need to clean everything. I suspect that antifreeze got into electrical contacts and corroded them; especially the battery cable connections.
