Transmission

Asked by Aug 26, 2016 at 11:15 PM about the 2000 Ford Mustang Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi, I changed my transmission fluid and
filter. I did not flush bc I didn't know how.
Now my car will go from park to reverse,
then neutral, but when moved to drive does
nothing. In drive it sits there, I push the gas
and RPM goes up but never budges. It won't
go into first or second either. The filter and
pan had a lot of sludge in it as well, that we
got out.

Sludge? How many miles on the transmission? If I found sludge I wouldn't have put it back together, sounds like it has overheated. Time for a used transmission or rebuild, That sludge probably worked it's way in to the clutch packs and orifice holes in the valve body, blocking the fluid. You can try another flush, but don't get your hopes up.
