1998 Honda Civic LX. Speedometer doesn't work ,,, what to do ? I changed the speed sensor, the two sensors on the catalytic converter, the alternator, the fuse box, and still the light stays on.
Car had electrical issues, so I changed a lot of parts. Now the car runs fine
but the speedometer doesn't work and the engine light stays on. What now.
You still may have to change out the speedometer cable. Also, sometimes a check engine light (CEL)takes a full cycle (drive ~ 80 miles) before the car checks and resets the system and shuts the CEL off by itself.
Also, check the #15 fuse under the dash. It is a multipurpose fuse (7.5 amp) it controls the VSS sensor which you just replaced apparently. Replace the fuse and and make sure the wiring harness behind the intake manifold isn't shorting out somewhere.
