Can you drive a 2000 Honda Civic ex with a bad head gasket? It doesn't smoke or anything I have drove it, but can you drive a car that has a bad gasket even if it for 10 mins????
Depends on how bad the gasket is and how much coolant or oil it is loosing. If it is not loosing enough coolant to get overheated, sure you can drive it. Be aware that the gasket problem could suddenly get much worse.
If you don't care much about fixing the car, you could always try some chemical head gasket repair. It may or may not work, but its cheaper than a new head gasket. Might get a little more time out of the car.
The extent of the gasket failure will determine how long you can drive it. I'm assuming you got a second opinion because the obvious signs of a blown gasket are when the fluids combine with each other ...ie; the anti-freeze gets oil or visa-verse ,,, next comes loss of power followed by smoke. What can be expected to happen if the anti-freeze mixes with the oil is the engine will fail completely. Before you do anything ... get a second opinion .. you may not have a blown gasket at all
