Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 Sonoma, 4x4, 4.3L, automatic. The tranny failed and is not a
candidate for a rebuild. I'd like to grab one from the wreckers for rebuild. I've
been told that I can only use one from same year, same model. This seems odd
to me as the 4L60E's were used in a number of vehicles. Which years and
models are compatible?
