My air conditioner does not blow cool, what could be wrong?

Asked by Jun 21, 2013 at 10:44 AM about the 2008 Honda Civic EX-L

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1 Answer

Either low on R134 refrigerant gas or the clutch on compressor not engaging. To check the clutch, open the hood, turn on A/C full blast, and the part on the end of the compressor should be turning. See the end part by the ribbed pulley? Ok, the pulley will always be turning, driven by the belt. But if the very end part, that is the clutch, is not also spinning then for some reason it is not being engaged. If it is turning with the rest of the pulley, you probably low on refrigerant gas, that can be done yourself with a kit, follow instructions that come with it, but first check for leaks so you don't waste a can of R134.
