Reset airbag light
I unhooked the battery and removed the airbag and changed the steering wheel. Reinstalled everything and now the airbag light is on.
Is this normal, how do I reset the light?
Most likely when you changed the steering wheel the airbag clock spring got damaged or misaligned. Each time you start the car the airbag system runs a self diagnosis. If everything is ok the airbag light goes out and stays out after about 10 seconds. If there's a problem the airbag light stays on. Once the problem is fixed the light will go out after the first start up. Basically it resets itself once it's fixed. With the airbag light on the airbags will NOT deploy, even in a collision. If you're not familiar with the airbag system please don't try to fix it yourself! Something as simple as checking a resistance value within the circuit will deploy the airbag if not done correctly!! Please be careful here!! HTH. -Jim
