If timing chain broke on 2007 93 2.0tu Saab
but wasn't driving is motor shot

Even trying to start the engine with the timing chain broke, will as a minimum, bend valve stems, (if you are lucky), but in all likelihood, piston crowns will be wrecked, cylinder head sicker than a sick thing and generally speaking the answer to your question is a definite "yes". Expensive...ouch !
