Asked by Apr 21, 2017 at 04:28 PM about the 2004 Acura TL FWD

Question type: General

Horn fuse is not blown. Horn works when steering wheel is turned left to limit.
Does not work when steering wheel is straight in park, drive. Works when car is
in reverse and steering wheel is turned to left. I blew the horn extensively one
day when person backing up in parking lot did not see me behind him. Since
nothing.

there is a "wear ring" that moves with every turn of the steering wheel...have them pull the steering wheel and replace that~

Right, on this year it is called a clock spring assembly, but I highly recommend that you have the pros check it out cause this unit also involves the air bag system and you don't want that going off while your working on the vehicle.

I don't know man, the uncertainty of metal fragments, hot gasses, and smoke and powder plus the noise would be too much for a normal person, no one that works on cars for a living is normal, we're use to explosions, slipped wrenches, mashed knuckles, foul smells, and ATF in the arm pits, just mention a few things we have put up with, a normal person would just walk away shaking from the sensory overload. LOL

remember to disconnect the battery of course...as a mechanic you should do that anyways, you are smart...you can figure out what to do here~

Now days you have to be careful disconnecting a battery, you can cause the computers to loose presets and then you wind up at the dealer for a hundred dollar reflash job. Always check the owners manual before disconnecting the battery, if still in doubt call the dealer just to make sure. This started in some makes in 2004 but had really takin off by 2005 forward.
