Ignition issues

Asked by Oct 17, 2016 at 02:31 PM about the 1991 Chevrolet Camaro RS Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

If the ignition is not on an exact spot my radio,
windshield wipers, and Lord knows what else isn't
working. When I first start the car I have to turn the
key to the spot where everything is working fine
but as I'm driving it moves from this spot and
things stop working. Sometimes it starts working
again without me doing anything, sometimes I can
wiggle the key and it'll work. I'm afraid It'll happen
on the highway in the rain and my wipers won't
work.

Sounds like the ignition switch, at the lower end of the steering column, near the floor is loose and moving around. HTH. -Jim
