07 Pontiac Grand Prix - Died 2 blocks from home, wont restart

Asked by Jun 12, 2017 at 09:40 AM about the 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Need guidance - 2007 Grand Prix - 3800, 124000 miles. My college sons car. Has been running fine not giving him any issues. Took him to airport with it yesterday, drove it home (2 hours) and not a problem. Get in it this morning, starts just fine. Got about 2 blocks from home and it died while driving down the street. Will not start. Has fuel (filled up yesterday as I pulled into town), turn the key and I can hear the fuel pump prime. Engine turns over, but will not fire. I still have to tow it home before I can do any work. Suggestions on first places to look? Steps to eliminate possibilities? Thank you all in advance.

If anyone is looking at this thread... I tested fuel pressure - 50psi at the rail. After speaking to local dealership I replaced the ICM. Still no luck. It has since thrown an error code (check engine light is on) however, I had a friend plug in his OBDII tool and could not get the port to respond. It appears the that OBDII port is not powered?? Any other way to check codes so that I am not on a wild goose hunt?

Check for a blown fuse to reactivate the OBDII port. Had the same problem recently.
