Towing a Miata on a trailer
I want to tow my 2001 Mazda MX-5 Miata on a trailer behind my Class B motor home (2013 Pleasure Way XL, Ford E350, 20 ft). Any advice or recommendations on trailer brands, models and specs to consider?
An aluminum trailer will weigh less. You also may want a trailer that protects the front of your Miata from rocks but weight is the biggest factor. Make sure you have brakes on both trailer axles.
Posting a long overdue thank you for your response F-O-R. We purchased an Aluma 7814TA. The combined weight of Miata and trailer are under the tow capacity limit. Have breaks on both axles. Plan to not exceed 65 mph to be safe. We have the luxury of no hurry travel. Appreciate your advice.
Right on! Some states limit trailers to 55. Dumb question but is the car tied down?
I use 4 Mac's Tie Down 10K ratchet straps with through the wheel protective fleece sleeves. Lots of helpful video on their website. Front wheel straps are crossed, rear wheel straps are in line. I also added Race Ramps to the tailgate ramp for a better loading angle. Not a dumb question at all.
Also added the front stone guard on the trailer as you suggested.
