why doesn't my 97 jetta gls seem to not shift at high speeds and failed emissions due to a b c d e f g h selenoid
just bought this used jetta only 132,000 , miles on it and runs like a champ but
didnt pass washington state emissions because of camshaft position sensor
and then all the selenoids. is the tranny going out
Check the tranny fluid if it is dark and smells burnt then I would say yes, however if the fluid is bright red then I would say you have a solenoid pack that is failing, every manufacture that is using computer controlled transmissions will eventually have a solenoid failure, it just happens, increased servicing helps but it won't eliminate the failure. Cam and crank sensors are another high failure. HTH
