Will a 97 2.0l engine work in my 95 2.0l golf?
I have a 95 golf I got for 200 buck with no rust. Engine was blown but found a 97 engine
will that work or will I needto replace with the earlier 2.0
their is so much technical data these days, I usually contact a used parts recycler and have him look in the exchange book even if a fee is charged
Ditto on 7jimmy7`s answer.
The first issue that comes to mind is whether or not the '95 Golf is using OBDI or OBDII. If using OBDII (ECU and wiring), I would think the 97 engine will work.
My initial forum scan shows that OBD2 cars will have 2 O2 sensors (fore and aft of the CAT) and a smog pump.
It has a obd1 in it currently. I've been told I could use a obd2 block and heads but need the intake and exhaust from my odb1
Sounds correct to me. I believe the distributor from the OBD1 must be retained as well.
