Used 2017 Volkswagen Golf for SaleNationwide

How much does the 2017 Volkswagen Golf cost?

Prices have softened 1.88% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 232 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2017 Volkswagen Golf a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The overview describes it as a compact car that blends serious performance with familiar polish, plus all-wheel-drive traction and a premium-feeling feature set. It also highlights a compact package that delivers strong power, grip, and upscale equipment, which makes it appealing if you want a small car that feels more capable and more refined than many rivals. There are 32.8% good or great deals in the market, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Volkswagen Golf reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview emphasizes a car that combines performance with everyday usability and a high level of equipment, which supports the case for a well-rounded ownership experience. It also notes that the car’s infotainment setup can be distracting, so you should expect some day-to-day usability tradeoffs even if the overall package is appealing. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been cared for properly and still feels tight, sorted, and free of avoidable wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Volkswagen Golf?

At 63.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage or repeated claims. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of body panels, paint consistency, interior wear, and how well the car’s equipment works in daily use. Because this model’s appeal depends on its performance-and-premium balance, condition matters a lot: a neglected example can erase much of what makes it special.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Volkswagen Golf?

This looks like a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep bargain hunt.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 232 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.88% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,236, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Volkswagen Golf's resale value?

The current average of $11,712 sits slightly below last year's $11,937.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also mean future resale gains are limited unless the car is especially clean and well kept. If you plan to sell later, condition and documentation will matter a lot because buyers will likely compare your car against a fairly broad set of similar listings. A well-maintained example should still hold interest, but the current trend points to steady rather than rising value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Volkswagen Golf or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.88% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2017 if you want a compact performance hatch with strong owner satisfaction and a market that still offers some deal opportunities. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-documented example rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
