Headlights work fine on high beam and really dim on low beam

I have a 1973 superbeetle.  The headlights work fine on the high beam but both go very dim on low beam, almost out.

Check the ground contacts and clean to shiny bare metal surface and tighten up generator/alternater connections see if that helps.

when headlights are dim it is usually always grounds. just as handicare stated.
