I just finished detailing the inside of my 2006 Saab 9-3 wagon and neither key fob works for turning or in the buttons.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I finished detailing the inside of my wagon.  I did push down in the ignition area when
cleaning.  Now neither key fob works in turning on the car nor do their buttons.  Battery
charger indicates the battery is charged.  Nothing is working.  Why?

I just tried manually locking and unlocking the doors; inserted key into fob; still would not turn ignition. Any other suggestions?

Will the fobs remotely lock and unlock the doors?

Sure sounds like an alarm/key programming issue. I will do some more digging.

I tried manually unlocking the door and then using the fob to start; did not work.

I know I pushed the "button" component in the ignition switch in the center console yesterday to clean it. Could that have signaled a security breech?

Could your cars battery be low on voltage? Just read on saabcentral.com where a low battery in your car will give the same issues as you are having. How long we're your doors open? Was the radio playing during this time? Just a thought.

We haven't tried jumping it yet. I think we will in a few minutes. That should answer the battery-related question.

Yes I feel that your battery might have been drained due to the doors being open. Have done this before myself. Try charging your battery bet it gets you back on the road.

jumper cables are hooked up. Interior lights work but ignition still can't turn from lock.

Now I feel like an idiot! Just as tow truck arrives, we have built up enough power to turn the key and crank the car. OMG! Thanks so much for stating the obvious since we automatically jumped to the complex.
