I saw a 2003 Mazda Miata for sale on Craigslist. It had 240,000 miles on it. Would it still be worth picking up? (this would be my first car)
I guess what I'm really asking is would it
break down as soon as I got it, or are they
pretty much reliable forever?
If your asking, you probably already know the answer. Yes it will require more maintanience than a newer car, but the inital cost of course would be cheaper. Just have some cash around to take care of things as time goes on. Also have a PPI performed by a local mechanic before perchasing to find any of the big stuff that needs immediate attention.
While MX-5 engines are built to last...I definitely wouldn't buy one off of Craigslist...God only knows what issues there might be...especially with mileage THAT high. You can do better..hopefully by now you did!
