YOUR FIRST STEP IS THE CHASSIS. THEY ARE DIFFERENT. YOUR NEXT STEP{ A BIG ONE} YOU WILL NEED TO FACTOR IN THE RUNNING GEAR{ENGINE C.I.D.} TRANSMISSION {2 SPEED AUTO - 4 SPEED} LAST BUT NOT LEAST REAREND GEARS {STRAIGHT DIFFERENCIAL VS LIMITED SLIP POSI} BUT IF YOU WOULD RATHER SKIP ALL, THIS MY BET WOULD BE 1/4 TON ON EACH NO DIFFERENCE. THEN 1/2 TON PROBABLY WOULD BE THE ONE MOST USED. THEN AGAIN I COULD BE WRONG!!!!! PS: DON'T GO TO CHEVY DEALER CAUSE THEY DON'T/WON'T KNOW!!!!!

I MISSED THE THE TARGET ON THIS ONE!!! THE MALBU IS A CAR FRAME/CHASSIS, WHERE THE CHEVELLE IS AN EL CAMINO FRAME/CHASSIS. THE CHEVELLE WOULD CARRY A 1/2 TON SUSPENSION WHERE THE MALIBU WOULD CARRY A 1/4 TON SUSPENSION.

Well the Malibu was simply a model of Chevelle. In 1969 the Super Sport was an option package that could be apllied to either the Malibu or 300 Deluxe models. The suspension would remain the same but the SS package add the 396 or larger engine and a bunch of trim.
