New engine and it leaks oil! Anyone else have a problem with bad rear main seal?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Got a new engine after 10k miles due to oil consumption and the rear main seal
in the new short block leaked oil and the engine had  to be pulled and a new
seal installed!

Anyone else have this problem? Anyone else think Subaru's QC is the worst?

Sounds like it's time to talk to a lawyer about The Lemon Law. HTH. -Jim

The newer Subarus are bad news. I hope they get yours straightened out.

two good responses. That new engine they started in 2011 (forester) and 2012/13 on some other models has been a joke IMO. I don't understand it and am glad I have my 03 and 04 for now. There is one guy, Full_of_Regrets ? I think that's how you spell it, that got a BRAND NEW replacement engine and it is also leaking oil or having issues. And that's recent, like in the last month or two. Check around on the forums, there's a bunch of people dealing with it. You aren't alone. Hang in there!!

Hey hey. Thanks for chiming in. Sorry to hear that. It's funny, I always read about the excellent quality rear mains in the earlier foresters.. It's a shame things have changed.
