My honda civic lx 97 cuts off a lights and stop signs but cranks back up with no problem its a automatic,also when I press the gas the rpm goes up to like 4 and stays for a second then it finally sounds like it caught the shift and goes back down but does it all over again when having to accelerate its like has no get up and go power it takes it a minute.what could be my problem? 1 Answer

Once it is running it is almost like its choking out and the check engine light will flash for a bit then the car runs OK... Any ideas?
