code 22 and 44
have a 1990 gmc sierra..got code 22 and 44.. but the check engine light only stays on for
about a minute..and thats when it idles high..but if the check engine light is on when i
park and i put it in neutral the engine will idle down to normal..i havent done anything yet
but would think i will start with the fuel filter right?? runs good no hesitation,, and seems
top have no power loss..
Code #22 is the throttle position sensor signal is low. Code #44 - Left O2 sensor is indicating lean. DOesn;t mean either is faulty , just that they are detecting a problem.
ok yep i got that..but were do i start..seems i cant find on the net those combos, 22 and 44..only does it here and there..sometimes every 5 minutes and somtimes not at all when im driveing..
Sounds like a bad connection at one or both of the sensors (TPS and/or O2). HTH. -Jim
so i tested the TPS and the closed throttle voltage was .2 and the full throttle voltage was 3.8, but no jump in voltage..no dead spots..so i got to lookin at the sensor, and that arm that the throttle body pushes on was bent, so it was reading that the carb was way closed..so i bent it so it was lookin like it should and WALA, .5 and 4.5. i cleared the computer fault and the light hasnt come on all day...truck it running better it seems..smoother.. i dont know how it got bent, but it moves freely..ill just keep my eye on it..
Awesome, glad you found the trouble! -Jim
