How do I change my alternator? Anyone have instructions?
My alternator went out and I need to install it myself
because I don't have a way to pay someone to install
it for me. Does anyone have instructions or a
diagram that would tell me how to do this?
Go to you tube and type in 2000 Dodge Durango alternator replacement, I got three right on top, one says it has a cute girl doing the job, so there you go.
The only part you may find challenging is releasing the tension on the serpentine belt. Get a socket on the tensioner and push it back, like a big spring, then slide the belt off the pulleys, then let the tensioner fall back into place. Be sure to draw a diagram or take a photo of the belt routing, so you can get the belt back on correctly. The alternator itself is a simple bolt-on affair. As far as tools go, a basic socket or wrench set is needed.
