A fair price was offered, but the process of the pickup was a debackle. The first driver wanted to arrive several hours earlier,w hich was fine, but then called the day before and cancelled becuase he didn't want to drive in the rain. Nobody at CarGuru calls you back even when they say they will. The paperwork was not in order for the driver when the driver arrived. Similarly, the sales agreement was also not in order.

The agent that came canceled with two hours notice on Saturday with a vage “family emergency “ excuse. When I asked on Monday if things were OK I was blown off with another vague answer.
He said he would return to pick up his car In forty minutes. It was three hours.
The central office texted me the following day asking if I could give them the title to the car. It was included in the paperwork that I gave the agent. He specifically asked for the title.
It was not a good experience at all.

I had a planned vehicle pick up two weekends in a row, nobody showed or called. Now a driver calls midweek and tells me he is on the way to get my truck. I work out of town. I did get payment this week, but you still have not picked up the truck.

Process leaves a lot to be desired if you don’t go to a dealer. Poor communication, nearly impossible to get contacts, and a slow payment process. If I had it to do over again I’d have gone to a dealer to have avoided this hassle which is saying something. Do better .

Avoid CarGurus. There are Less Time-wasting Ways to Sell Your Car

Avoid. Just avoid. There are many better options including CarMax. I decided to try CarGurus due to an - initially - higher offer than CarMax. Of course, later in the process they showed their true shady side and reduced the offer claiming non-existent issues.
In addition to slimy business practices, CarGuru's processes are a disorganized, disjointed, and convoluted.
-- The app is a complete failure. It does not work when uploading car images. Wasted 45 minutes on four attempts
-- As requested, I sent a DPoA. Never got confirmation. Had to follow up multiple times and still couldn't get a straight 'yes' or 'no'
-- The packet which included a temp tag REQUIRED for transport, NEVER showed up. However, the pick up team did show up, as schedule. I wasted even more time rescheduling because "Support" (wow, a contradiction in terms) couldn't locate FedEx tracking information for the packet which should have arrived days ago. Car pickup had been hard scheduled for more than A WEEK! FedEx does not take a WEEK to get to Atlanta.
If the whole point of CarGurus, CarMax, etc. is to make the process of selling ones' used car seamless and less time-consuming, CarGurus is the polar opposite. Disorganized time suck!

Confusing number of parties to work with throughout the ordeal: Nerdwallet and Car Gurus and mechanic and pickup team. The mechanic took about two weeks to come and inspect, and then didn’t take all of photos required, prompting a follow up visit. Unable to confirm whether payment was going to happen (no account login to verify bank account details) adding to uncertainty about the process. When it came time for pickup, the Car Gurus app had a glitch that wouldn’t accept the mileage, so I had to call customer support at Car Gurus AND Nerdwallet (the pickup team—very friendly— couldn’t get through on their end), so I had to wait on the phone about 45 minutes. No effort by Car Gurus to make remuneration for the delays and complications. Never again.

The pickup date CarGurus set was not was not observed. The pickup contractors kept calling the wrong number, no matter how many times I contacted CarGurus to alert them.
The call center personnel have a mantra, " No worries, I'm going to escalate this to the responsible group. Someone will call you." No one called. Escalation is BS. I became so disgusted with that horrible phrase, "No worries." The sale of my car to CarGurus required several hours over several days of my following up on actions they said they would take. I had to research websites to contact responsible people because they would not provide a number to the responsible people. Overall, a terrible experience.
