The steps leading up to the point where our vehicle was taken away were surprisingly simple and easy. "What a cool system, what a remarkable new business model" I thought to myself. However, when the "transport driver" appeared at our house to complete the transaction, all confidence I had in the process was immediately gone. PLEASE will you instruct your drivers on keys to professionalism - a name tag? a company card? SOME type of identification? I felt as if a stranger had appeared at my doorstep and was going to steal my car. He was dressed in sandals and an old tee that hadn't seen a washer in some time, but it was his very limited knowledge of the paperwork that I was required to give him (from the folder CarGurus mailed to me) that very nearly made me cancel my agreement. Also, an after-hours customer service line seems necessary; I had no one to contact about this man on my doorstep that could verify who he was and that would have gone a long way to ease my mind. Ultimately, my experience ended with my car brought to a processing location and money in my account, but there were many hours I spent in distress, actively worrying about the outcome.

Initially my experience was great. I submitted my request, my pickup date, and got a confirmation a few days later. Then, two days before my pickup, I was told they would have to postpone, without offering any options for alternative days. I responded and offered up a few days that I would be available, and was told I would need to complete a virtual intake appointment. I completed the appointment, was ensured I would be hearing from them soon about a pickup day, and never did. I was told that the person who did my intake form would be my main point of contact but then never heard from him again after that appointment. I reached out 3 separate times. Each time, someone different responded to me. I got an email a few days later saying that someone was coming to pick up my vehicle on a certain day at a certain time, without consulting me if that time would work for me, and that they would reach back out to confirm the time. I never received any confirmation of the pickup, even after reaching out to confirm. Still, I took off work to ensure I would be home for the pickup, in case it was still happening. The pickup time came and went and I did not hear anything, until about an hour after my supposed pickup time. I got a call saying a guy was on his way to pickup my vehicle and he would be arriving around 8:30pm that evening, about 5 and a half hours after the scheduled time. He did give me the option of doing the sale the following morning, but I had to work and I had already taken off time for an appointment that did not happen so I agreed to do the sale that night.
My appointment was also pushed back so many times that I still had to make a payment for my vehicle, which altered the amount still owed and therefore the amount the my check was made out for. I pointed this out to the person who told me the scheduled time in the email I sent to confirm the pickup, and got no response so nothing was done to alter the check, meaning that I the check I cashed is about $200 less than what I am supposed to be owed.
Overall, the lack of communication was incredible disappointing and frustrating. I thought this was going to be an easy process, but had to jump through so many hoops and through so many people. The only reason I am giving two stars instead of one is because I did get the money, even if it was $200 less than what I was supposed to get. There are too many different companies working together and it was frustraing hearing from different ones every time I emailed. This was an incredible frustrating process and I would not recommend CarGururs,

A nightmare experience.

I thought it was easy at first but my husband passed away during this which stopped it all and I am STILL waiting for the lender to put the payoff in their system. I was told it would be 24-48 hours but then I was told it will take 7-10 business days! Again, I am still waiting for the car to be paid off in my lenders system. This really, really scares me that the car will not get paid off and I will have a bigger nightmare! Sorry but this has been an awful experience for me.

When I went through the process of selling my car on CarGurus website I wasn't able to pick a date on their website to pick up my car🤔 Yet I was able to be contacted to a CarGurus representative through their website via an online text conversation. The CarGurus representative told me the pickup date would be for that upcoming Friday, but she texted my cell phone with a confirmation date of that upcoming Saturday. I didn't notice this discrepancy in dates until a few days later. So I called CarGurus back and they said that the upcoming Friday was no good and that Saturday between 3pm-5pm is available, but I told them I get out of work that Saturday at 4pm. So the CarGurus rep said that they can schedule it for that Saturday between 4pm-5pm. I said ok I will just leave a little bit early from work Saturday to be home by 4pm. Well on that Friday(my day off from work) I get a call from the actual tow company at 12pm saying they may come that day, I told the tow company that CarGurus scheduled my pickup for that Saturday for between 4pm-5pm. He said no it's scheduled today(Friday), but the tow company called eventually called me back at 4:30pm that Friday saying it won't work today and that Saturday between 4pm-5pm is no good either🤔🤨 The tow company agreed to pick up my car on the following Wednesday between 1pm-3pm because it's my next day off from work, and that they would call an hour in advance. On the following Monday I get a call from CarGurus because they wanted to setup a pickup date for my car, I told them the whole story of what happened and the CarGurus rep apologized and said that I qualified for a $250.00 bonus check(which I still haven't received or even gotten an email or text about) and she set up a pickup date/time for that upcoming Wednesday between 1pm-3pm like the tow company agreed to. So it's now that Wednesday(day off from work) and I get no call an hour in advance like the tow company Said they would, and by 3:30pm that day the tow company never showed up. So I call CarGurus and I am on the phone for a long time trying to figure out what's going on. The CarGurus rep then calls me back saying the tow company will be at my place within one hour by 5pm, but then I get a call from the actual tow company saying that he will be there by 6pm. Finally the tow company arrives at 6pm, the tow truck driver was very nice and the process of inspecting my car and signing over my car's title to CarGurus was quick and easy. Overall the process of scheduling and actually getting my car picked up was a complete nightmare and it caused me to totally waste two of my days off waiting around at for them!!!! Also, it really annoyed me having to deal with both CarGurus and the tow company because they both had absolutely no idea what each other were doing basically a total lack of communication between each other🤨

It was not a pleasant experience. The driver didn't show up. The call center agent blamed the driver. I asked to speak to a supervisor that never happened. NEVER got a call back from one. We were told that both owners need to be present...not only was this terribly inconvenient, it turned out to be a.lie. you should inform your people that the titles are.signed.via docusign. The driver never saw or asked to see the co owner of my car. I would not recommend your service to an enemy

The pick up was a disaster, first day, driver no showed, reached out by phone, but did not leave a VM, (any unknown #, I do not pick up) no follow up after. Finally reached them in the evening, they said they will be there the next morning @ 8:00AM no show (Sunday), we reschedule for 9:00 AM Tuesday, and they did not get here until 11:30. Driver was nice, but had a lot of dog hair all over him. The overall process of selling the car was not bad, offer accepted and driver was here for only 30 mins!! Communication break down, with car guru's, car offer, third party and driver!
