Took 3 tries to finally get someone out to look at the car. Finally did on Saturday and I waited until Monday (more than the 3 hours they stated) and they only deposited $100 for the car - wasn’t until next day that the full amount was deposited).

The car gurus side of the process was great! Friendly people on the phone quick to respond everything went smoothly until… It was time for the vehicle to be picked up. The company they hired to pick the vehicle up never showed up. Then the next day they had a hard time finding someone to pick the vehicle up again. The back end of this deal was very frustrating. Probably out of car gurus hands at that point.

Have now sold one car on Carvana and one on Car Gurus. Both are great at putting in info and getting the bid (what I call the "front-end"). Carvana was far superior in coordinating the paperwork and pick up (what I call the "back-end"). The CarGurus' pick up took 17 hours and, in the end, did not even lead to a completion of transaction (and my headaches). Because CarGurus kept giving me two-hour pick-up windows, I had to waste time from Friday at 12 noon (my original pick-up window) until Saturday at 715pm (finally picked up). The third-party service that picked up the car was pleasant, but really didn't know what to do, which left me uncertain about signing over title and giving them the vehicle. Then to my surprise, on the following Monday a local car dealer called me to ask what they were supposed to do with my (old) vehicle that had been dropped off in their lot (they got my name via the VIN number as I removed the plates). Then this was followed on Tuesday by CarGurus calling me to say I hadn't filled out all the forms I needed to sign, and I was NOT to cash the check (which I had already deposited on Saturday after I handed over the vehicle). Imagine again, being called to sign something AFTER you've handed over the signed title and vehicle! This really demonstrated they still have glitches in their system, as eventually after I signed the document via DocuSign the CarGurus system sent me message that "now was the time to schedule the pick up." A bit late in the game and confusing as the vehicle had been picked up three days before! Overall, it all worked out in the end, but not without some wasted time, unnecessary hassles, anger, frustration and a bit of stress of having handed over my vehicle and title without a firm conclusion that took another four days.

I was totally satisfied with my sale. It took three tries to pick up my car. Disappointing, but I felt great that the woman I talked to said they would be sending me $250 for the trouble. I thought that was a real upfront thing to do. However, I never got that money which was promised. Not a huge thing, but it left a very sour taste.

The process was somewhat smooth. Had a slight problem of someone picking up the vehicle. I ended up dropping it off 48 miles away from home, but was compensated for my travels. Still waiting for the purchaser to payoff the rest of the balance on my financial contract
