Our test model, the GV80 3.5T in the Prestige Signature trim, showcased an $84,600 MSRP enhanced by the stylish Matterhorn White Matte paint. The exterior colors for Prestige Signature versions included Vik Black, Matterhorn White Matte, and exclusive Mauna Red, all complemented by dark chrome trim and a chic, albeit subtly designed, 22-inch wheel configuration.

Although the GV80 Prestige Signature exuded luxury, we felt the regular Prestige model held equal appeal, particularly regarding the wheel design, which lost its impact due to its nearly invisible black paint. The real star was the interior of our test vehicle, draped in Ultramarine Blue over Dune and featuring diamond-stitched Nappa leather, an artificial leather dashboard, matte-finish wood trim, a suede headliner, and metallic accents. Ambient lighting, a 3D digital instrument cluster, and a wide infotainment touchscreen further solidified the GV80's luxury status.

Meanwhile, the 2024 Nissan Rogue received a noteworthy facelift, its first since the 2021-model-year launch. Despite retaining the same lineup of S, SV, SL, and Platinum trims, it greeted buyers with a refreshed aesthetic. The redesigned grille harmonized with the Rogue's distinctive stack headlights and daytime running lights. Minor changes to the rear fascia and a sleek 19-inch wheel design for the Platinum model accentuated its modern look.

The GV80 3.5T, our test model, boasted a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine with an impressive output of 375 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque. This allowed for brisk acceleration and confident highway merging. However, its fuel efficiency left something to be desired, as it achieved only 17.2 mpg in real-world driving, compared to the EPA’s combined rating of 20 mpg.

Both GV80 engines paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive (AWD), supporting five driving modes: Eco, Comfort, Sport, Custom, and Snow. These options highlighted the GV80's adaptability. With 8.1 inches of ground clearance and a towing capacity of up to 6,000 pounds, the GV80 was adept at more rugged challenges. Performance was further complemented by upgraded front brakes and adaptive damping suspension in the 3.5T model, contributing to a rewarding and sporty drive experience despite some minor issues with seat comfort over long trips.

The 2024 Nissan Rogue, on the other hand, featured a unique 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine capable of adjusting its compression ratio. This provided a balance between power and fuel economy. Producing 201 horsepower and 225 pound-feet of torque, it outperformed some competitors’ engines, like the Honda CR-V's 1.5-liter turbo-four and the Toyota RAV4's non-hybrid powertrain.

Our test vehicle’s amenities like a panoramic roof, triple-zone climate control, and ventilated front seats with massage functions sounded promising but were let down by the overall seating comfort. The GV80 offered 34.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row and up to 84 cubic feet with the seats folded, though careful loading was necessary due to the rear center console.

In contrast, the 2024 Nissan Rogue managed impressive passenger space, comparable to rivals like the Honda CR-V and Hyundai Tucson. Within the Rogue, first-row legroom was slightly less than the Forester but still adequate. The Rogue provided a maximum cargo space of 36.5 cubic feet with the rear seats up and 74.1 cubic feet with them folded, placing it between the spacious Tucson and the less roomy Forester.

Nissan's Divide-N-Hide cargo system and additional features such as a molded-in grocery bag holder and available power liftgate made its storage solutions practical and versatile. A tall center console offered extra front-row storage, although access to the lower tray was somewhat awkward.

Tech enthusiasts would find the 2024 Genesis GV80 increasingly appealing with its 14.5-inch touchscreen situated distantly, pushing users towards the rotary dial on the center console. The impressive infotainment suite provided navigation, SiriusXM, wired Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto integration, plus a rear introduction of Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities.

Our test model showcased a digital dashboard with a 3D effect and a standard voice-recognition system making route programming an easy task. The GV80 also flaunted a wireless charging pad, with Prestige Signature models featuring an additional one in the second row. With the digital key and a standard Lexicon audio system, the GV80's technological suite was rounded off by a head-up display (HUD) that offered clear visibility of blind-spot warnings.

For the 2024 Nissan Rogue, the base models (S and SV) provided an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, upgrading to a 12.3-inch touchscreen and additional features like Amazon Alexa and Google built-in on SL and Platinum trims. The Rogue's system was notable for integrating Google Maps, Google Assistant, and Google Play directly for streamlined functionality.
