2024 Genesis GV80 Reviews SummaryGenesis introduced the GV80 in 2021, and the crossover SUV is getting a minor refresh in 2025. Still, the 2024 GV80 remains a good choice unless you want to wait for the fancier styling, more high-tech interior, or new supercharged GV80 Coupe coming next year. Otherwise, today’s GV80 is pretty much the same as tomorrow’s GV80, and in some respects, it is the more elegant and traditional choice. Verdict: Based on our evaluation of the 2024 Genesis GV80, seat comfort is not what it should be. Also, to use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, you need a USB cable. This Genesis is thirsty, too. But otherwise, we have few complaints about this stylish, safe, and mostly rewarding midsize luxury SUV.
2024 Hyundai Palisade Reviews SummaryWithin its segment, the Hyundai Palisade is a terrific family hauler, checking nearly all of the right boxes. Plus, it has a distinctive design, upscale materials, and thoughtful amenities. After a refresh for the 2023 model year, the 2024 Palisade returns with standard three-zone automatic climate control, Bluelink+ connected services, and the range-topping Calligraphy Night Edition. If you guessed it comes with blacked-out trim and wheels, pat yourself on the back. Verdict: Stylish and safe, powerful and enjoyable to drive, and roomy for people and cargo, the 2024 Hyundai Palisade is a winner. Then, when you consider the added value inherent in buying this midsize three-row crossover SUV, choosing a Hyundai Palisade is both a logical and an emotional decision.

The 2024 Genesis GV80 offered a choice between the 2.5T turbocharged four-cylinder and the 3.5T twin-turbocharged V6 models, with trim levels ranging from Standard to Prestige Signature. Prices varied from $57,700 to $81,750, plus a $1,350 destination charge. The test vehicle, a 3.5T in Prestige Signature trim, featured an optional Matterhorn White Matte paint, bringing the MSRP to $84,600. The Prestige Signature trim was available in exclusive colors like Mauna Red, paired with dark chrome trim and 22-inch wheels. Despite its luxurious interior with diamond-stitched Nappa leather and a 3D digital instrument cluster, the GV80's exterior design was less impressive, and the wheel design was criticized for being obscured by black paint.
The 2024 Hyundai Palisade stood out with its distinctive styling, available in SE, SEL, XRT, Limited, Calligraphy, and the new Calligraphy Night Edition trims. Prices ranged from $36,650 to $53,850, excluding a $1,395 destination charge. The test vehicle, a Calligraphy Night Edition, featured Hyper White paint and carpeted floor mats, with an MSRP of $55,930. The Night Edition came with AWD and a blacked-out appearance, including dark chrome and gloss black trim. The interior boasted an artificial suede headliner, quality upholstery, and metal speaker grilles, giving it a luxury feel. The Palisade's sophisticated interior and overall design made it a standout in the midsize family SUV segment.

The 2024 Genesis GV80 2.5T featured a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, outperforming some rivals' V6 engines. The 3.5T model, tested with a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine, delivered 375 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque, offering satisfying performance but lower fuel efficiency, with an observed 17.2 mpg compared to the EPA's 20 mpg estimate. Both engines paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard AWD, offering five driving modes. The GV80 3.5T included upgraded brakes and adaptive damping suspension, providing a rewarding driving experience with swift acceleration and commendable grip on mountain roads.
The 2024 Hyundai Palisade came with a 3.8-liter V6 engine producing 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Palisade offered a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds and eight inches of ground clearance. It featured several driving modes, including Eco, Comfort, Sport, Smart, and Snow, with the ability to lock the AWD system for off-road conditions. The V6 engine provided ample power and satisfying acceleration, with the AWD system distributing power effectively on various terrains. The Palisade averaged 18.8 mpg in Comfort mode, slightly below the EPA's 21 mpg estimate. The suspension offered a firm yet comfortable ride, with excellent visibility and handling on mountain roads.
In 2024, the Genesis GV80 3.5T Advanced was the only model with a third-row seat, while the Prestige Signature offered seating for four with second-row captain’s chairs. The test vehicle featured a luxurious interior with a panoramic glass roof, triple-zone climate control, and ventilated front seats with massage programs. However, the seats were criticized for being uncomfortable on long trips, and second-row legroom was limited. The GV80 offered 34.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row, expandable to 84 cubic feet with the seats folded, but the rear center console's height required caution when loading items.
The 2024 Hyundai Palisade offered a range of seating options, with cloth seats in the base SE trim and premium Nappa leather with microfiber inserts in the Calligraphy Night Edition. The test vehicle featured heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and an Ergo Motion massage function for the driver. The Palisade provided configurable storage, with a large bin under the center armrest and additional trays throughout the cabin. Second-row passengers enjoyed captain’s chairs with optional heating and ventilation, while the third row offered more comfort and space than most rivals. The Palisade provided 18 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row, expandable to 86.4 cubic feet with the seats folded.
The 2024 Genesis GV80 featured a 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment display, with a 12.3-inch digital instrument display in the Prestige and Prestige Signature trims. The infotainment system included navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The GV80 offered a digital key system, a Lexicon premium sound system, and a head-up display in higher trims. The voice-recognition system was user-friendly, and the infotainment display was visually pleasing and intuitive.
The 2024 Hyundai Palisade offered a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, and Bluelink+ connected services. The system supported Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, requiring a USB-A cable. The Palisade featured a 12-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system, a digital key function, and a semi-autonomous remote parking system. The head-up display provided navigation instructions and safety feature status, though it was incompatible with polarized sunglasses.
The Genesis GV80 came equipped with advanced driving-assistance systems, including a Blind-Spot View Monitor, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and Highway Driving Assist (HDA). The HDA system worked well in light traffic but was less desirable in moderate to heavy traffic. The Blind-Spot View Monitor provided a video feed within the digital instrument panel, enhancing safety during lane changes. The GV80 received a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS and a five-star overall rating from the NHTSA, though it earned four stars in the frontal-impact test.
The Hyundai Palisade featured the SmartSense collection of driving assistance systems, including forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring. The Highway Driving Assist system paired adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist, offering a hands-on driving experience. The Palisade Limited, Calligraphy, and Calligraphy Night Edition trims provided three layers of blind-spot safety. The Palisade earned a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS, though the NHTSA's frontal impact test results were unavailable.
