2022 Toyota RAV4 Reviews Summary

Once dismissed as a “cute-ute,” the Toyota RAV4 has evolved into a compact SUV to reckon with. From a range of efficient powertrains to a roomy, flexible interior and stylish exterior, the RAV4 has the goods to compete with the best SUVs.

2023 Genesis GV70 Reviews Summary

The definition of luxury has changed. No matter where you look in the various premium vehicle segments, there are entrants that you may not have seen decades ago. From performance SUVs to subcompact crossovers, there are new takes on upscale vehicles. But just as crucially is the entrance of new players. In 2015, the Genesis brand was officially spun off from Hyundai. And with the brand’s expansion into various segments, a compact like the 2023 Genesis GV70 was a must.

The GV70 was introduced for the 2022 model year and for 2023, an all-electric model joins the lineup. We evaluated the GV70 on the whole, but with a special focus on how effective the 2023 Genesis GV70 Electrified is as an EV and as a compact luxury crossover.

2023 Genesis GV70

8/10

The 2022 Toyota RAV4, a continuation of a 2019 redesign, was a testament to Toyota's evolution from the original "cute-ute" category to a mature crossover SUV. Its exterior design, while blending with the current crossover trends, featured distinctive angular flourishes and crisp lines that set it apart upon closer inspection. The RAV4's expressive headlights and grille gave it a playful yet aggressive look, complemented by Toyota's renowned fit-and-finish. Inside, the RAV4 boasted a layered dash with contrasting textures and colors, anchored by a straightforward center stack. The interior design was cohesive, with a circuit-board-inspired geometric pattern tying various elements together, from the seat inserts to the dash pieces.

In contrast, the 2023 Genesis GV70 exuded luxury and sophistication, drawing stylistic connections to the G70 compact luxury sedan. Its interior was a blend of contemporary and classic design, featuring top-notch materials and excellent fit and finish. The GV70's cabin was equipped with a full touchscreen backed by a rotary dial and button controls, offering a user-friendly interface. The gas-powered GV70 came in two trims, the 2.5T and 3.5T, while the Electrified GV70 offered Advance and Prestige trims. Each trim level provided a range of luxury features, from power-adjustable front seats and ambient lighting to premium Nappa leather and a suede headliner, ensuring a high-end driving experience.
