What can't my truck do? Not much!!! Zero maintenance, good mileage, incredible power. Makes a fool of the Jeeps! Old school 4x4 with the modern touches like AC. Unlike my hubbies FJ60, I rarely have to juggle fuel cans on our off road outings!May 16, 2012

Overall this vehicle is a great choice for someone who enjoys being outside. Lots of cargo space for any camping , fishing and/or hunting. Drivetrain it is easy to work on with the carb being the only difficult area, mostly due to all the vacuum system. I have had great times in mine and would recommend this vehicle to anyone. The low range is LOW pretty much not having to use any throttle to climb. With manual everything(windows, locks, trans.,hubs, dash controls, ect. it is simple enough to generally fix upon the trail.Jan 27, 2012

Great to drive, easy and comfortable. Build tough and to last for 30 years
at least!. Performs very good for an 4x4 vehicle and it's capable of
carrying on almost ANY offroad add-on or accessory ever made. And of
course, it's very fun to drive.May 24, 2010

The cruiser is uncomfortable, hot, slow and a petrol
guzzler but it is tough as nails and has character. I
bought if from a farmer for $2500, gave it a new paint
job with my two brothers and this year it gets a new
set of tyres!Jan 07, 2010

performance - slow, handling is ok, heaps of torque for offroad or towing/carrying large loads
build quality - excellent, unbreakable
appearance - looks average for age, little bit of rust
Cost of ownership... well i borught the car for $700... what else can i say? fuel isnt too bad for a 3tonne vehicle
Fun factor- fkn good offroad, onroad is a different story...Dec 28, 2009

The performance of thei cruiser is what you can expect from a 30 year old diesel... perfect! It's wery well built and has wery few weak points.
Fun factor of this car could be a litle higher if it had a turbo, but it's fine as it is.Dec 19, 2009

IMy BJ is pretty much redone.. by my own hands, so
its not just car, its my child.
In the image power steering is being installed. But
still its terrible to drive, but its a question of choice.
I would not use words driving performance and
acceleration in same sentece with BJ40. Still I love
my BJ40, best and worst car I have had. Infact its
the second I have had. This one I am going to keep,
i guess.Sep 18, 2008

It loves rolling in the mud with a powerful 4X4 system, a little sluggish due to its age and cant think of burning on a highway. Built to last and can take a good beating off road. Be prepared to spend time at the garage fixing some little thing on your free time. But it has attitude and turns heads. This machine is for the macho man. Ladies don't enjoy getting in due to the hight and raw appearance of the interior.
If you are keen on getting a 81 cruiser make sure you have a very understanding wife.Aug 07, 2008

The most collected of the Land Cruiser family. I began restoring it a year
ago. Now its completely done. Everything works, including the gauges.
Nippon Denso a/c and power steering installed. Still does 10 km/liter
diesel. amazing.May 04, 2008
