How much does the 2022 Ford Ranger cost?

Prices have softened 10.29% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,051 listings available, which gives you a meaningful pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2022 Ford Ranger a good car?

Generally — the 2022 Ford Ranger earns a 4/5 user rating, which points to solid overall appeal for shoppers who want a practical midsize pickup. The overview highlights strong capability, including a maximum towing capacity of 7,500 pounds when properly equipped and the highest payload capacity in its class at the time, so it fits well if you need a work-ready truck that still handles daily driving. It also offers available safety tech and relatively good fuel economy for a gas-powered midsize truck, though the cabin and infotainment are dated. With 35.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Ford Ranger reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview suggests the Ranger’s formula is straightforward and mechanically simple, which can be a plus if you want a truck without a lot of complexity. It also notes that the generation’s reliability record is not spotless, with earlier-model complaints involving transmission, electrical, and paint quality issues. For used buyers, that means you should pay close attention to maintenance history and condition, because long-term ownership risk is more about individual vehicle care than broad promise.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Ford Ranger?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

Start with the history report so you can confirm accident status, title status, and service records before you go any further. Then prioritize a thorough inspection of the transmission, electrical systems, and paint condition, since those areas matter most for this generation’s reputation. You should also focus on how the truck was used, because a work truck with heavy towing or off-road use may need more scrutiny than a lightly driven example.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Ford Ranger?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively and still find worthwhile listings if you move with purpose.

• Deal availability: 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,051 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.29% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,833, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Ford Ranger's resale value?

The current average of $27,833 sits slightly below last year's $31,028.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the truck has been maintained. Because the Ranger still has strong utility and broad appeal, a clean example should remain easier to move than one with visible wear or a rough history.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Ford Ranger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.29% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $26,039, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $27,833 average.
• It stands out as a solid all-rounder with a strong off-road identity.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced shopping pool, the 2022 is the stronger primary target because it combines a lower current price than last year, decent deal availability, and a healthy share of accident-free listings. If your main goal is saving money upfront, the 2021 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one in good condition and can live with its lower average price.
