Is the 2018 Toyota Highlander a good car?

Yes — the 4.57/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its reliability, spaciousness, and smooth ride, and many also like its family-friendly features and everyday usefulness. The Highlander’s comfortable, practical character makes it a good fit if you want an easygoing SUV for commuting, errands, and kid duty. Is the 2018 Toyota Highlander reliable?

Owners rate it 4.57/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback repeatedly highlights reliability, and the review summary also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers. That matters if you want a used SUV you can count on for daily family use and longer-term ownership. For used buyers, the main risk is finding a neglected example, so condition and maintenance history should carry real weight.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Toyota Highlander?

At 63% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on body condition, signs of past collision work, and overall mechanical health. Because this model is often bought for family duty, pay close attention to interior wear, seat condition, and how well the cabin has been maintained.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Toyota Highlander?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile opportunities.

• Deal availability: 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,936 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.30% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $21,238, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Toyota Highlander's resale value?

The current average of $21,390 sits slightly below last year's $22,827.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition so you preserve as much value as possible. A well-kept Highlander should still appeal to shoppers who prioritize practicality and family usefulness.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.57/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Toyota Highlander or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.57/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $20,014, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $21,390 average.
• It adds a refreshed look and standard safety equipment.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market balance of price, availability, and owner satisfaction, the 2018 is the better primary target. If your budget is tighter and you want to spend less up front, the 2017 is the more price-sensitive alternative and still offers a compelling ownership case.
