CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Summary
With 218 currently listed for sale and an average price of $20,411, 31.2% of 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrids for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid 4.86 / 5 stars.
59.2% of 2018 Camry Hybrid models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid stands out as part of the third-generation Camry Hybrid, which was introduced in 2017 as a model in the eighth-generation Toyota Camry range. It marked a noticeable shift upmarket, with a different look that included a fastback rear end, a slightly lower roofline, and a longer, wider body. The interior also moved in a more adventurous direction, with a curvy dashboard and a high-tech center console, while still keeping the Camry’s core appeal of affordability, practicality, and ease of ownership.
For 2018, the Camry Hybrid’s powertrain delivered 208 horsepower from a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor, driving the front wheels through a CVT. Fuel economy ranged from 46-52 mpg on the EPA combined cycle, depending on spec. The hybrid was offered in Hybrid LE, Hybrid SE, and Hybrid XLE trims, with standard equipment on the entry-level model including LED headlights, dual-zone climate control, a rear-view camera, heated front seats, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, and radar cruise control. It also came with Toyota’s Star Safety System and Toyota Safety Sense packages, which included automatic braking with pedestrian detection and lane-departure alert with steering assist.
That combination of efficiency, comfort, and equipment makes the 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid appealing to buyers who want a roomy sedan that is easy to live with and likely to be reliable. Its main drawbacks are the same ones that apply to the model generally: it is not especially exciting to drive or look at, and the interior of early models is described as bland.

I love this car so much! I do miss the smaller features of my 2014 Ford Fusion like the navigation and sunroof. However, the fuel economy with the Toyota Camry hybrid is better than the fusion and it has many of the features I am already used to. It offers a smooth ride, great connectivity with your phone via Bluetooth, and the adaptive cruise control is great for thruway driving. Overall, I feel this is a great value and I'm happy with my purchase so far!

Purchased this car as my daily commuter. This car gives me between 46-50 mpg. The interior is spacious. The seats are comfortable. The standard safety features (lane assist, adaptive cruise control, etc.) make this car a pleasure to drive. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the of a strange smell that the AC system produces. According to several forums it is a common problem with this model. There are several resources online that show you how to get rid of the smell which is helpful, but I think it is something that Toyota should fix since its clearly a design flaw. Overall I am very happy with the car. It gets wonderful MPG, its spacious and its standard safety features enhance the daily driving experience.

Great car, 2nd Camry we have had. Great pickup speed - better than just gas powered, Incredible mileage, and the “ regular size “ tires versus “ low profile “ tires make the ride smoother too ! I would buy another Camry Hybrid.

Is the 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid a good car?
Yes — 4.86/5 is a strong user rating, and owners consistently praise its fuel efficiency, reliability, and spacious interior. Many also highlight the smooth ride and useful tech and safety features, which fit well if you want a roomy sedan that is easy to live with and built around affordability and practicality. With 30.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid reliable?
Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to reliability, dependability, and a car that many drivers feel comfortable counting on over time. That kind of response matters for used buyers because it suggests the model has a strong track record for trouble-free ownership. Even so, you should still pay attention to maintenance history and condition, since any used hybrid can carry long-term ownership risk if it has been neglected.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid?
At 59.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can catch hidden body, mechanical, or hybrid-system issues. Focus closely on overall condition, maintenance records, and any signs of prior repair quality, since those details matter more when a sizable portion of the market has accident history. If a listing looks unusually clean and well maintained, verify that the paperwork and inspection results support that impression.

What is the 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid's resale value?
The current average of $20,326 sits slightly above last year's $19,536.
That upward move suggests the market has been willing to pay more for this model year, which can help support resale confidence if you buy well and keep the car in strong condition. For a future seller, that means a clean history, solid maintenance, and good presentation should matter even more when it comes time to list. Demand is also helped by the model’s strong owner satisfaction and practical appeal.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 59.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices are up 4.05% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2018 is a smart choice if you want a well-liked, efficient hybrid sedan and you can verify condition carefully. If you are price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on whichever one gives you the best combination of history, mileage, and asking price rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
