CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid

Summary
With 298 currently listed for sale and an average price of $18,344, 33.2% of 2018 Honda Accord Hybrids for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid 4.5 / 5 stars.
56.7% of 2018 Accord Hybrid models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid stands out because it marked the start of Honda’s third-generation two-motor hybrid system in the Accord lineup. Honda said the redesigned Accord models had improved packaging, while power output stayed the same and fuel economy estimates fell slightly. For buyers, that combination made the car appealing as a more practical and refined hybrid sedan than earlier versions, with Honda continuing to offer the powertrain through the rest of the 10th-generation Accord’s production run.
For 2018, the Accord Hybrid also benefited from the Accord’s roomier cabin and huge trunk. Honda moved the hybrid battery and other components under the back seat, which preserved cargo space and allowed a 60/40-split folding rear seat. That makes the car especially attractive if you want a hybrid that does not sacrifice everyday usefulness.
There are tradeoffs, though. The third-generation hybrid powertrain supplied 212 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque, but hard acceleration could bring a constant, unpleasant droning noise that dulled the driving experience. Even so, the 2018 Accord Hybrid combined strong efficiency, good packaging, and a more polished overall feel than the earlier second-generation cars, making it a well-rounded used-sedan choice.

Glad I took it for a test drive. It’s definitely not the car for me. Too long of a hood made it impossible for me to see or judge distance in front of me.

Great spacious vehicle, pleasant to drive, the base model doesn’t have apple carplay, very comfortable seats, huge trunk space and the rear seats also fold down to give you more cargo options and room. Great fuel economy, overall a great full size sedan, the touring version has nothing to envy any mercedes or BMW for less price.

Great features, best riding car I have ever owned. Drives like an Electric Vehicle - which it mostly is, just one powered by a generator instead of a battery. The 2018 is rated at 47/47/47 mpg. My lifetime mpg is currently 47.9, but that is at the end of winter; It is about 45 mpg on winter-grade fuel, and 50 mpg on summer-grade. Those who complain about low mpg have a lead foot - it is very easy to do jackrabbit starts without realizing it.

Yes — the 4.5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the overview highlights a hybrid sedan that blends efficiency with everyday practicality. You get a roomier cabin, a huge trunk, and a 60/40-split folding rear seat, so it works well if you want hybrid fuel savings without giving up usefulness. The tradeoff is that hard acceleration can bring a droning noise, but the overall package still reads as a well-rounded used-sedan choice. 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The overview points to a refined hybrid setup with practical packaging, and Honda kept the powertrain in the Accord lineup through the rest of the generation, which suggests a mature design. You should still treat any used example as a condition-specific purchase, because hybrid components and overall maintenance history matter more as the car ages. For long-term ownership, your biggest risk is buying a neglected example with hidden wear or deferred service.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid?
At 55.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
Start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with collision records. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on body condition, repair quality, and any signs of uneven wear or poor past repairs. Because this model’s appeal depends on its practicality and refinement, you should pay close attention to overall condition, not just mileage.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid?
This looks like a moderate market where selective buyers can still find value.
- Deal availability: 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 298 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.92% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 55.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $17,989, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid's resale value?
The current average of $18,478 sits slightly below last year's $19,232.
That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more favorable for buyers, which can limit upside for a future seller in the near term. Even so, the Accord Hybrid’s practical cabin and strong efficiency should help it stay appealing to shoppers who want a sensible midsize hybrid sedan. If you maintain it well and keep it in clean condition, you should be in a better position when it comes time to resell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 55.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.92% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2017 if:
- At $16,465, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $18,478 average.
- It offers a more conventional, upscale-feeling hybrid sedan.
The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced package, the 2018 is the stronger default choice because it combines solid pricing, strong satisfaction, and practical hybrid packaging. If your main goal is to spend less upfront, the 2017 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one in excellent condition.
