CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid

Summary
With 302 currently listed for sale and an average price of $18,718.00, 34.1% of 2018 Honda Accord Hybrids for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid 4.5 / 5 stars.
57.0% of 2018 Accord Hybrid models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid stands out because it marked the arrival of Honda’s third-generation two-motor hybrid system in a redesigned Accord. Honda said the new setup offered improved packaging, and while power output stayed the same, fuel economy estimates fell slightly. That combination makes the 2018 model appealing to buyers who want a mainstream sedan with hybrid efficiency and the added practicality of a more thoughtfully packaged powertrain.
It also benefits from the Accord’s roomy cabin and large trunk, with the hybrid battery and related components moved under the back seat to preserve cargo space. Honda’s 60/40-split folding rear seat further improves utility, which helps the car feel less compromised than many hybrids. The 2018 Accord Hybrid is also part of a generation that earned a reputation for solid reliability, though owner complaints have included some dissatisfaction with real-world fuel economy.
At the same time, the 2018 model is not without drawbacks. The hybrid powertrain can produce a constant, unpleasant droning noise under hard acceleration, which can dull the driving experience. Even so, the 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid remains distinctive for blending strong everyday practicality, good efficiency, and a more refined hybrid layout than earlier versions of the car.

Glad I took it for a test drive. It’s definitely not the car for me. Too long of a hood made it impossible for me to see or judge distance in front of me.

Great spacious vehicle, pleasant to drive, the base model doesn’t have apple carplay, very comfortable seats, huge trunk space and the rear seats also fold down to give you more cargo options and room. Great fuel economy, overall a great full size sedan, the touring version has nothing to envy any mercedes or BMW for less price.

Great features, best riding car I have ever owned. Drives like an Electric Vehicle - which it mostly is, just one powered by a generator instead of a battery. The 2018 is rated at 47/47/47 mpg. My lifetime mpg is currently 47.9, but that is at the end of winter; It is about 45 mpg on winter-grade fuel, and 50 mpg on summer-grade. Those who complain about low mpg have a lead foot - it is very easy to do jackrabbit starts without realizing it.

2018 Honda Accord Hybrid Price Trends
CarGurus tracks the prices of millions of used car listings every year. See how the average price of 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid prices has changed over time.
See more price trendsHow much does the 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $18,764 |
| Year-Round Low | $17,983.93 |
| Year-Round High | $20,229.08 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $19,539 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −3.96% |
Prices have softened 3.96% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 296 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.
If you find a listing below $17,983.93, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid a good car?
Yes — the 4.5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction for this model year.
The 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid stands out because it brought Honda’s third-generation two-motor hybrid system to a redesigned Accord. That setup is appealing if you want a mainstream sedan with hybrid efficiency and the added practicality of a thoughtfully packaged powertrain.
It also gives you a roomy cabin and a large trunk, helped by the battery placement under the back seat and a 60/40-split folding rear seat. In practical terms, that means you get hybrid benefits without giving up as much everyday usability as many other hybrids.
34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid is part of a generation that earned a reputation for solid reliability. That said, owner complaints have included some dissatisfaction with real-world fuel economy, so your expectations should stay grounded in actual use.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the hybrid system and overall condition match the car’s mileage and price, since repair exposure can rise if prior care was inconsistent.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid?
At 56.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the hybrid system, braking feel, and overall mechanical condition.
Because this model’s appeal depends on efficiency and practicality, you should also pay close attention to how the car drives in normal use, not just how it looks in photos.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 296 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.96% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 56.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $17,983.93, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid's resale value?
The current average of $18,764 sits slightly below last year's $19,539.
That tells you the market has softened, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy well and keep the car in strong condition so you preserve as much value as possible.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 56.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.96% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2017 if:
- At $17,016, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $18,764 average.
- It emphasizes comfort and a more upscale feel.
The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced pick, the 2018 is the stronger all-around choice because it combines a lower market price than last year with solid owner satisfaction and practical hybrid packaging. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2017 is the better secondary path, especially if you find a clean example with a strong service history.
